The good news:

-We scored five goals on Saturday
-We didn't look completely outclassed 5x5
-Our next four games are at home

The bad news:

-Way too many dumb penalties
-Our penalty kill was astronomically worse than Lawson
-Our power play was just a hair better than Frazee
-Our next two opponents are St, Clooud and UND

*sigh*

Young team, still lots of work to do. Nice to see Gwilliam leading the way on the scoresheet, but he really needs to stop with the unnecessary penalties to truly live up to that 'C' on his jersey.

I just want to congratulate your school on having the best hockey team in the UP. Tech may not be great, but at least you wont lose 5-0 to a freaking CHA team. So once again, congratulations to Tech, I wish we had a coach who could lead us to victory against CHA teams.

You need to calm down. Bemidji is a much better team than the rest of the CHA squads. Tech learned that lesson last season when they got swept in Bemidji last year, and we all learned it when they went to the FF. Sure, they got great goaltending the whole way, but that run was not a complete fluke.

I spent over $150 travelling to MQT to watch tonight's game. It's not just that NMU lost, it's that we looked soooo bad doing it. It was like watching a high school squad skate against an NCAA team. NMU was beaten in every aspect of the game. Our "great" goaltender looked like an all-time sieve. Our talented players were outskated and our coach was out game-planned. If tonight had been a 2-3 loss or even a 2-4 loss I could've accepted it. Tonight was a travesty and it proves that NMU is not a competing team once again.

You won't get any sympathy from us. You're complaining to a group of dedicated Tech fans that have traveled all over the country to watch our team lose. Flights to Alaska and Colorado aren't cheap.

to be fair, I think Tech will finish in the top half of the WCHA this year and when you guys arent playing NMU I'm always pulling for you.

I have spent hundreds of dollars to see some brutal road losses myself. Nothing like being 0-4 with a goal differential of 14-5 in our last four games at SCSU! :rolleyes:

Well I have to say that last night was pretty demoralizing. Two goal lead in the third and we do that!. It will be a long year.

The frosh skated well but without some sort of quality defense and an ability to shrug off problems we will really find tough sledding.

So remember that foolish optimism I had? Yeah, about that...

I think it would have been better for me to not watch that game last night. Yeah, its pretty awesome that we scored 5 goals, but there's no reason any team should take that many penalties when they have that many goals, especially when they're within 1 or 2 of the other team, and that's going to be our undoing. I think I'm going to transfer my school-based senioritis onto the hockey team as well and not give a **** again, and just enjoy whatever wins we can manage to scrape off the floor :cool:

I'll give credit to Conboy for being about half of Scott's size and still wanting to go, but that was a terrible matchup for him. Best he could do was play huggy bear. :p

I think the officiating is typical for early season WCHA. They always enforce everything early on, then mostly swallow the whistles by Christmas.
