Michigan State 2009-2010

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Did anyone happen to fork over the $7 to see the streaming video of tonight's game?

If so, how'd it look?
If it was like any other B2 Networks production I've seen, probably not.

That aside, great, great win tonight. Jarosz was solid, and the team really shifted gears in the last 2/3rds. We needed that win tonight.

Major props to Jarosz. Well done.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

We needed that win tonight.

I think not only the fans may've been feeling it but maybe the team was too. The 10-win mark was a psychological hurdle and so was breaking out of a 4-game winless streak.

It's a relief, but the team can't relax and needs to continue to stay focused for tonight.
Gee, how's that for profound??

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

I was worried the big ice would take some adjusting and fortunately it seems to have only taken 1 period and Northern didn't take advantage of it.

Good, solid win that i was concerned we would not grab. It sounds like after the first, we really took it to 'em. Hopefully we can keep up the energy tonight but i am kinda worried the refs might be looking to even up the penalties after last night.

We still need to find the back of the net a lot more.

It is always tricky listening to the radio with Rob Woodward because he gets so excited whenever we nearly score. He wants it pretty bad out there.:p

6 points would be really huge.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

So any guesses as to what the big topic for practice will be this coming week?

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

I actually was not able to follow this game at all so i have no idea. What is the synopsis here?

I'm thinkin 0-10 on the power play this weekend. Combine that with MSU's dismal record in that department against Minnesota and Notre Dame - this is getting somewhat rediculous.

Just imagine how much more successful State would be if we they'd had it together these last three weekends!

We're getting set up better it seems - but you don't hear about (or see) the nice, crisp tic-tac-toe midrange passing that made the unit dangerous earlier this season. Forwards aren't moving around circle to circle, post-to-post. There needs to be more spark, more urgency, more hunger.

It seems like during the Comley era our power play has not been something to be feared by the opposition. :(

Here's a scary stat (not to the competition)

2 for 33 going back to the 2nd Michigan game.
In those 7 games, MSU had powerplay goals in only ONE. (Wisconsin)

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Well the hardest part of the schedule is finally over and overall i think we came out ahead even though it has been disappointing to have this little cold streak. A month and a half ago i am sure we would have been thrilled to come away with the record we did through this stretch. Bowling Green is next and i think anything but 6 points will be a big disappointment. We need these points to keep up with Miami but Bowling Green seems to be playing with everybody now so it might be a bit more difficult than we hope.

Must. Score. More. goals. Our numbers since Notre Dame look like last year.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

I'll steal an idea from the Ferris thread:

"So, any thoughts on the Bowling Green home-and-home this weekend?"

Generally, I like the color orange, but not when it's coupled with brown.

Also, I feel we'll take care of business and sweep.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

I've heard from reliable sources that the hockey team does a lot of things that never get reported on. (Good things, not something that requires ski masks...) It's good for everyone to remember that hockey is just a game and that many folks are in the middle of life, and it can be hard.

This is certainly better than mugging people in the residence halls. Maybe Dantonio and his "men" could learn something.

Impossible. This is MSU football.
Anything in Izzo's contract says he can't coach two sports ???

Oh well.

I thought that MD was the "next coming" for football coaches... Maybe he's just too darned nice?

Just kidding. This whole football thing is actually pretty scary and I would bet not isolated to MSU or UM. Heck, MN basketball has one or two players either going to, or in jail for shoplifting at the Mall Of America. Ouch...

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

If anybody can get a hold of a State News today, there is a section on the past decade of MSU sports and the hockey program gets a nice number of acknowledgements including our NC win over BC ranking #1 in the "Best Game" list. Considering it's over an entire decade and involves all MSU sports, that's pretty nice. Quite a few alumni mentioned here and there as well, particularly Ryan Miller and Jeff Lerg.
