Weekend preview from Gophersports

http://www.gophersports.com/sports/m-hockey/spec-rel/021314aaa.html

The No. 2 Minnesota men's hockey program returns to action this weekend with a Big Ten Conference series against No. 10/11 Michigan at Mariucci Arena. The first-ever series as Big Ten rivals starts Friday at 8:04 p.m. CT on the Big Ten Network (Dan Kelly, Ben Clymer, Fred Pletsch) with Saturday's finale set for 7:10 p.m. (Doug McLeod, Ben Clymer, Kevin Gorg). Both games will also be available via stream on BTN2Go.com. The Gopher Radio Network and flagship station 1500 ESPN will carry the radio broadcast (Wally Shaver, Frank Mazzocco).

Michigan Notes

Minnesota and Michigan -- two of college hockey's most iconic and successful programs -- have met 259 times in history with the Gophers boasting a 128-117-14 all-time record. In recent action, Minnesota holds a 7-3-0 record in the last time games with the last meeting taking place on Nov. 28, 2010 in a 3-1 win for the Gophers.

Only three active Gophers have played the Wolverines -- Nate Condon, Justin Holl and Tom Serratore as freshmen. Michigan has two active players who have competed against the Gophers -- Mac Bennett and Luke Moffatt. Among the five total players, only Condon has registered a point in the series with a goal.

Re: Michigan @ Minnesota, Feb 14 & 15

I'm hoping for a split. Realistically, I'll be happy if Michigan takes any points from Mariucci.

It'll be intersting to see what our lines will be with Guptill out.

Re: Michigan @ Minnesota, Feb 14 & 15

I think this site is dying. I'm not any less interested in any particular game than before, but I post in D1 a lot less.

Agreed. The cafe interests me far more.

And what happened on page 2? I see some other school's posters, but how is that unusual?

Re: Michigan @ Minnesota, Feb 14 & 15

I'd be pretty happy to miraculously have the driver's seat to the first B1G title. Rodents dropping games to Michigan (plus the badgers learning how to win on the road) puts us in that driver's seat.

Shh...stop trying to use logic. I would say go lose to some buckeyes, but I like them losing in all sports, even if their hockey team isn't a rival.

It's funny. Their fans are acting surprisingly pleasant in our series thread, and it makes me uncomfortable since we all know what Ohio State fans are really like.

Seriously, though, you can all eat it. Other than Michigan in the next 36 hours.

Re: Michigan @ Minnesota, Feb 14 & 15

If the gophers are going to get 1 goal a night all the other stuff won't matter. I assume Mich doesn't play much defense so im hopeful for a MN sweep.

Even if both the Wolverines and BADgers sweep this weekend, Wisconsin is NOT in the drivers seat, Michigan is. They're only 2 points behind Wisco, with 2 games in hand.

But don't let facts stop you from selling your soul.

Surprisingly they do this year, scoring is another question though.
