Michigan Hockey...

Well, that was an interesting game. Took a while to get the scoring going, but they finally did. And then turned it off in the third, to let the kids back into the game. And then they somehow turned it back on- only to repeat the start of the game- control without scoring.

That turnover Fantilli did to let in the 4th goal was, well, he's not his brother- that's for sure. I can kind of overlook some of the young freshmen for having some problems, but he's been around long enough to not do that.

Still a little "finding their form" it seems. After giving up swapping 3-0 wins against St Cloud, that was a solid win last night. Very solid.

I was at the game last night. Michigan controlled the 1st pd but BU goalie was sharp. Shots 9-2 M. BU came out better in 2d, scored their only goal on a pp when C Hutson found Eiserman alone behind the D with a long pass. Caron still held M off the board. Third period, combination of M finally breaking thru and BU taking awful penalties - 3 of them, 1 a major. A couple of them were directed at Edwards. Not sure coincidence or prior history? Good win for M.

A goal in OT means we swept for the weekend! These guys are progressing- especially scoring goals. Imagine if they could put good defensive play together for the whole weekend.... Bummed that it seems that Korpi isn't as solid as Stein- but maybe swap the nights the play to see if that's the goalie vs the night they play- we've seen that the team is very different Saturday v Friday. But if Korpi is still adjusting to the college game, give the net to Stein- 0 against St Cloud and 1 against BU is really solid. Really solid.

Anyone know the last time BU was swept at home? Can't imagine that happens very often. Great weekend for Michigan!

Any word on Hage?

Still nothing, it seems. Even over on mgoblog, there are no rumors even.

Getting into B1G play now, and can we finally win the regular season title? Not confident we can, given how many new players we have, but they are playing pretty well at this point.

Quite the defensive struggle last night. And I do thought our D was really solid for almost all of the game. Sure kept the puck off of Stein since he only had 17 shots get through to him.

I sometimes wonder if Jeff Jackson is a secret goalie coach- he always has well prepared and positioned goalies. Say was always in a great spot for every shot- we only scored on two rebounds. Perhaps Coach N will put someone in front of the net more often tonight?

Nice "sweep" (5/6 points thanks to OT yesterday). They really had a hop to their skates at the beginning- but the passing accuracy sure dropped off as the game went on. Thankfully, that wasn't the reason for the goals against Korpi. And he looked strong, too.

NaSK and I watched that last weekend. It was nice to have something to watch since there was no football and no hockey.

Headed to Penn State this week, based on their record it looks like PSU is struggling. Let's get some road wins.

Funny thing for me, it makes me really want to meet the players. Which is really hard these days. We managed to meet some in front of their home on Michigan Street (between Wells and East U), but most of them went pro last year.

Is there supposed to be defense in hockey? That was an interesting weekend. Great to get the road sweep and bunches of goals. Also good lessons that 3 goal deficits (especially in the 1st) are not insurmountable.

This weekend could be some good games. Western currently sits atop the NaCHo standings and is coming off a sweep at Duluth. Hopefully we learn to play some D before Friday. In K-zoo Friday, home Saturday.

Hey WT, will you and the parasite be at the game against Ohio Stare at Yost on the fifth?

I will be at the game but busy doing band things. Hubs doesn't seem interested in taking the parasite to the game by himself, so I believe she will be staying home. She's 5 and in kindergarten if you can believe it.

Are you coming up to Yost? Are you going to Wrigley as well?

I've been to too many outdoor games and have no interest in doing that again. Too difficult to actually see/watch the game.

Yes, I'll be at Yost Sunday, section 10 row 11. I'll be easy to spot. LOL!
I won't be at Wrigley, I'm too sensitive to the cold ever since I had chemo 3 years ago. I'm sorry I'll miss seeing the parasite in person, wow, five already? Doesn't seem possible.
But it should be a good game Sunday as the loser of the Wrigley game will have a chip on their shoulders. Look me up and say Hi. I typically take a lap through Yost between periods.
