Michigan Hockey 2010 - Delivery or Take Out?

Re: Michigan Hockey 2010 - Delivery or Take Out?

Woohoo. We better enjoy this coming season, because 2011 ain't looking too promising at the moment. At least eight leaving, and one signed on. We'll have depth if we're lucky, but no one too prolific. And what about that goaltending issue?

Yeah, it's not looking too pretty right now. I was disappointed we didn't take a chance on a goalie like Jeff Teglia or Steve Summerhayes (both top USHL goalies) this past signing period because right now if Hunwick can't get the redshirt then we got, uh... Patrick Summers in net and that's it heading into next off season  And seeing as the coaches seem to be more focused on an elite 2012 goalie (who will probably bolt for the OHL in 2011), that leaves us nothing to bridge the gap. Maybe Red can get Hagelin to recruit eight Swedes for us...

EDIT: Or maybe not Patrick Summers? One of the Rivals users is saying Adam Janecyk will be walking on as the #3 goalie.

Re: Michigan Hockey 2010 - Delivery or Take Out?

With Michigan only receiving two verbal commits in the past 17 months, the 2011-12 roster is full of questions.

Also consider whether players like Chris Brown, David Wohlberg, Brandon Burlon, Mac Bennett, Jon Merrill will consider pro contracts or CHL defections.

2011-12 roster
Sr. Wohlberg, Soph. Moffatt, Jr. Brown
Fr. Guptil, Jr. Treais, Jr. Lynch
Soph. Fallon, Soph. Deblois, Sr. Glendening
Jr. Rohrkemper, Jr. Sparks,

(need to recruit at least 4 more forwards)

Sr. Burlon, Soph. Merrill
Soph. Bennett, Jr. Moffie
Soph. Clare, Sr. Pateryn

(need to recruit at least 2 defenseman)

RS Sr. Hunwick
Soph. Janecyk

(need to recruit 1-2 goalies)

After seeing that, I'm not concerned about the defense, if all six are still here. Offense is another story.

Matt Mahalak is considering, last eye checked.

Matt Mahalak is considering, last eye checked.

He's signed to the Plymouth Whalers.

Goalie is the one position you're probably better off finding someone year of, so I wouldn't be overly worried there. Lots of potential guys out there, and you can wait and see which one looks the best this year.

They're going to be hurting in a big way at forward unless they pull a couple rabbits out of their hat.

Why have so many Michigan recruits of late opted for Major Junior instead? I don't get it? Michigan has a great hockey program
