Miami vs B.C. Frozen Four Semifinal: Gotta happen sometime, right?

Re: Miami vs B.C. Frozen Four Semifinal: Gotta happen sometime, right?

Yeah that 2-1 win over UAH was an offensive explosion.

You can talk all you want about how many goals BC has been giving up...but in Miami's last 5 games they haven't scored more than 3, and the only game they scored 3 was an overtime game.

Doesn't matter how many goals you score, as long as you make sure your opponent scores fewer. 1-0 is a win as surely at 10-0. Regardless, Miami was certainly not playing their best hockey against UAH on Saturday, and post-season Michigan is definitely not a team that gives up many goals. However, Michigan scored 5 or more goals in the 7 games leading up to Sunday's contest. On Sunday, they scored 2.

Still, the point remains that Alaska only has 4 forwards with 20 points or more. Miami has 7. BC has a rather ridiculous 9.

Miami has won 29 games this season more or less playing close, low scoring games. It seems to have worked out for them so far, we shall see ;)

Oooh I just realized, Miami scored 10 goals twice this season. BC failed for reach double digits all season, does that mean Miami is the better offensive team?!? Thats about how ridiculous half these arguments sound to me.

As someone posted, these are the top 4 teams in scoring margin. Miami gets it done by allowing just a few goals and scoring a bit more that their opponent, BC has recently given up a bunch of goals but scoring a bit more than their opponent.

This game will be close throughout, and a 4-3 win for someone.

I can't argue with you here. IMO, the 4 will be whoever scores first and is able to dictate play.

Here's to Miami's first goal! :)

And by your comment you obviously didn't watch that game lol. Miami doesn't need to run the score up, that isn't their style. They can if they want, but they choose not too. Talbot made some huge saves in that game, Miami hit a couple of posts but most of all they played puck possesion and had zero urgency to score goals. They did what they had to to win the game, thats all thats needed.

LOL, they chose not to...

I guess I can say BC could have won 9-2 instead of 9-7, but the defense chose not to. After all, they did what they had to do to win the game.

Re: Miami vs B.C. Frozen Four Semifinal: Gotta happen sometime, right?

Ive watched your team play a bunch of times on TV. I just think there's no way Miami can keep BC under 5 goals.

So, Alaska holds BC to 2 goals (+eng) and the best defensive team in the country can't hold them under 5?

interesting analysis

Re: Miami vs B.C. Frozen Four Semifinal: Gotta happen sometime, right?

Too much time off to tell what kind of game this will be. BC has followed up defensive debacles against UMass and Maine with strong efforts and I expect the same after giving up 7 to Yale. There's no debating that BC is a better offensive team while Miami is stronger defensively. Miami has a bit of an experience edge on BC, but not in goal. Pretty even game across the board in my opinion.

The key for BC is how the young defense plays. I'm willing to say Miami is a slight favorite in this game, which I don't mind at all.

Re: Miami vs B.C. Frozen Four Semifinal: Gotta happen sometime, right?

Here's what I think...

In the 2 postseason games that BC has allowed a high number of goals, they have taken an absurd # of penalties. Yale had 7 powerplays on Sunday...they only scored twice when it was even strength 5x5. In the HE Championship, Maine had 8 powerplays. It's definitely something that BC has gotten away with fortunately but against competition like Miami I don't think BC can afford to head to the box that often.

That is the one thing I am concerned about. Stay out of the box, win...take a lot of penalties, lose.

Re: Miami vs B.C. Frozen Four Semifinal: Gotta happen sometime, right?

I do think the winner of our game will win the national championship on Saturday. It should be a great game to watch and I would imagine it will be a third period game and whichever teams makes the big play late will win.

I have no hatred towards Miami, so if the Redhawks do win on Thursday, I will certainly be rooting for them on Saturday. (Not that I expect such a dastardly outcome to occur). :)

Re: Miami vs B.C. Frozen Four Semifinal: Gotta happen sometime, right?

Those people convinced that BC giving up a lot of goals Sunday is some harbinger of doom against Miami ought to realize this: The Eagles have done a great job of following up games like that with fabulous defensive efforts.

You can be sure the Eagles are going to work on what happened Sunday versus Yale and fix it. Against BC there will be no seven goals coming off Miami sticks, rest assured of that.

Well obviously everyone can, rest assured of that. Muse has been nothing short of stellar in the past few weeks. Including an amazing PK rocking at 70% the past three games. I'll tell our boys to take it to the bank, we can't score 7 if Yale can.

Ha, and we can't hold you to two like UAH did.

Oh wait, you guys chose not to score...is that what it was?

That pretty much sums it up. :D Yale did score seven but Miami most certainly won't. I'm not saying that Yale is a better team, only that BC has the smarts to fix these problems.

I dunno, those boys don't appear to be able to have a long term memory. they only fixed those problems for one game against the high flying UAF nanooks  . 2 weeks off may just be in one ear and out the other :D

Really? I'm not sure either BC or Miami will beat Wisconsin, they are looking awfully good right now.

'Young Defense' is a tough thing to determine. Miami had a young D last year (played 4-5 freshman in last year's Frozen Four). Just because they are age-wise young doesn't mean they won't play well. As the saying goes, "By this time of year, they aren't freshmen anymore."
