Miami University at St. Cloud State

Re: Miami University at St. Cloud State

Nice road game by the Hawks tonight. Survived the first and even led and then stepped on the gas in the second and early third. Didn't like 5 minors in the third period and the two garbage time PP goals, but that's hard to complain about.

No Alden Hirschfeld in the lineup for Miami. I don't even think he made the trip; don't know why. Weird for the CCHA's reigning offensive player of the week, but I think there are still a few disciplinary things being ironed out.

Good to get the game 1 win. Now we'll see if they can finish the job unlike last weekend against UNH.

He's injured.

Shoulder injury, if I recall correctly.

Note to self: be glad the bonfire has been moved to next weekend. :o

That would have been a great disappointment of flooring it up to St. Cloud and get rewarded with that kind of performance.

"Great" effort guys! Maybe we're not as good as the pre-season hype! I am now a UNO fan!

Re: Miami University at St. Cloud State

In my seven years of covering this team exclusively both home and away, the second period of last nights game was absolutely abysmal. No physical play at all, just lazy poke checks that turn into scoring chances. This team is better than they played last night, and I guarantee they will come out fiesty tonight, look for a 4-2 Husky victory.

Re: Miami University at St. Cloud State

After the 1st period it was clear Miami wanted it more than the Huskies did. tonight is a huge game and this team can't afford to let this one slip away. Miami is going to be inthe top five for sure at the end of the year and the Huskies need a win for pairwise purposes in a big way.

Would agree, but I would argue that SCSU will be in the top 10 for sure and this is just as big of a game for Miami.

I thought both teams looked pretty bad in the first period. But Miami made some adjustments in the last two periods. Wasn't a very physical game from both teams last night. miami has a lot of skill players and as I suspected the bigger ice was favorable to Miami's forwards. I too expect a closer game tonight, and would expect a lot better performance out of Knapp. Should be fun to watch.

Re: Miami University at St. Cloud State

My prediction for tonight's game is that Danny D shakes off the early season rust and shines! St. Cloud wins hard fought victory.

Re: Miami University at St. Cloud State

What a great game. The tending on both ends was very good. Good to see Knapp bounce back after a rough game 1. Very physical game. Miami PK was phenomenal.

SCSU has a very good team. They are fast and physical. It was a treat to watch. Good luck in the WCHA and beyond.

I second that. Knapp deserved it, with all he has been through personally in the last few months it is great to see him play that well. Miami played well, but SCSU played much much better tonight than last night. Two top 10 NCAA caliber teams went toe to toe tonight. Honestly reminded me of Miami's game against North Dakota last year.

I think Miami thrives off the physicality that SCSU played with tonight, boy it was fun to watch two really good hockey teams play tonight.

Good luck to Huskie nation the rest of the year. We will see you for round 3 in Tampa Florida at Christmas!

Re: Miami University at St. Cloud State

A few thoughts on tonights game.

Miami is very good! they can skate, score, play the physical game and play defense. However, The clutching and grabbing they got away with was a joke. To their credit why not do it if you can get away with it.....

Sheppard once again showed how much of a tool he truly is and what a joke WCHA officals are.......

Hanowski was brutal all weekend. I am sorry but a guy with his size should be able to battle in the corner and come out with the puck once in a while. He shyed away from from any physical play and didn't hustle worth a **** all weekend.

Jensen was great again tonight! this kid can play and is our best defenseman as a freshman.

The Great Dane was very good tonight. If he plays like that all year look out!

Barta is not very good. The fact this guy needs to play because Zabs and Rioux can't live up to their potential is sad. Every time he touches the puck something bad is waiting to happoen.

Novak was great tonight. His energy was unbelievable. If he could find a scoring toch this kid would be lights out...

Marvin is playing hurt and you can tell. He wasn't physical all weekend and he wasn't even skating the way we all know he can. We need him to get healthy....

I would be afraid to go into the corners with the twin towers Miami has in Weber and Hartman. lol

Good assesment though, thanks for the take. Have never thought Miami clutched and grabbed excessively, maybe they did last night but normally they just play really physical. Which at times could be interpreted in different ways.
