Miami @ UNH 10/16/09

Re: Miami @ UNH 10/16/09

G'night, erin, Dean, UNH09, SteveS, friendly foes, and anyone I've accidentally left out.

That Lvivske Porter is kicking in nicely now -- this will only sting for a second. :p

Re: Miami @ UNH 10/16/09

Night everyone! I won't be in for tomorrow's slaughter... Good luck keeping the ship righted...

Re: Miami @ UNH 10/16/09

Gibber were you at the game? If so did it look as bad as it sounded?

nope, at work in Manch... only listened to the 2nd period. Miami is number 1 for a reason, UNH is a very young team, and will take some time to get going, I couldn't care less how they look now as long as they get better as the year goes on, and I think they will. I care more how they play next weekend against NU and Maine than I do about how this weekend's games turn out, to be honest.

Re: Miami @ UNH 10/16/09

You're dating yourself... Pedro Gurerrero? :D

I think Buck Martinez did the color in at least the first 2 games and he's very good, he just has a bad voice... not sure if he did game 3 (?)
Sorry -- Vladimir (see also reference to porter kicking in, below). And I come nicely pre-dated, thankyou! :D

Pretty sure it wasn't Buck, as I agree on his general competence. The play-by-play for that game sounded like a Sox guy's voice, so perhaps it was an Angels radio voice in a tandem deal?

Pity -- was fun having you here.

Thanks for the link and chat, and we'll do our best to enjoy the slaughter on our own...

I would have liked to see something a bit closer than today's game... Tomorrow is another day but the offense from the top lines is lacking currently... Maine @ home looks as though its our best chance in the first 6, troubling times indeed...

Re: Miami @ UNH 10/16/09

And apparently Ron Darling is worse than Joe Morgan... If that is possible
That really stretches credulity (and I'm a generally credulous kinda guy).

But will take your word for it. If so, he must be one hideous mutha'

Its October 16, and they just lost to the best team in the country. If they're playing poorly in January, then I'll jump with you off the bandwagon :p

I somehow doubt that P.J. O'Rourke -- who went to Miami but last I heard lived in NH -- is morally conflicted over this win. :p

G'night all. If nothing else, we made it to 250 ;)

It may only be Oct. 16th but these games are just as important when it comes march and the PWR rankings. With a limited # of OOC games that is a big way to set yourself up down the road. I know conference games are important but these games will help you down the road a lot more than a matchup with merrimack in january.

Im not looking at PWR... UNH needs a solid season to build into the future... No NCAA's is a real certainty this season... I would like to see a solid in-conference season for UNH and build into next year... First time in 8 years that the NCAA's aren't really in the cards for the Cats... UNH is a weaker team in a weaker conference this season. CCHA is up, WCHA is WCHA and the loss to RPI hurts against ECAC as a whole...

It is October 16th, but a hole is not what the Wildcats need this season...

Re: Miami @ UNH 10/16/09

I'm doing an east coast trip next year, including Philly. I'd like to catch the Phillies, and Eagles while I'm there. Should be great. I've heard nothing but great things about CBP so I'm really looking forward to seeing it in person.
Missed this when first posted, Dean.

You haven't heard wrong. Very, very nice experience at CBP -- night and day from the Vet.

Please let me know when you're coming my way --would love to hook up, as I'm less than 50 minutes by car...

I get that, then it is more important for us becuase if you are going to be down a loss would hurt us more. As for the Hockey east being down this year, I don't see it. I think their are 4 legit contenders out of the hockey east this season.

I still think no matter the direction of your program in a particular season OOC games against quality opponents are important. It is good to measure for your programs against others in another conference because if your conference is down it may not be a good gauge.

Don Orsillo did indeed do the play-by-play for the Sox-Angels series.

Thanks Rolevio. Gib's mooting of possible Buck culpability is hereby retracted.

As for Don, have to say that the "color" was largely of the water-is-wet variety (as if that night weren't grim enough for me... :D )
