Miami at RPI, 1/2/15

Re: Miami at RPI, 1/2/15

Surprisingly we did have a few chances but most were all from one line. If we keep losing face offs, this game will get out of hand during FDude's favorite second period

We were 5-14 in faceoffs, according to the WRPI guy. I'll pessimistically round the square root, and say Miami gets four in the dreaded second.

Re: Miami at RPI, 1/2/15

Our defensive strategy of retreating with the puck and passing back towards our own goal tonight is really helping the MU forecheck. We have got to make quick decisions and clear our own zone rapidly against this team that just gets in your face so fast.

Any sort of special teams play will not favor us. If this officiating crew starts calling more, even if it is against both teams, we could be in a deeper hole. We do not have a very speedy line up out there and MU has been much quicker to the puck. I would think that the score being only 1-0 speaks for some good luck so far.

Second period is always telling. With a team like this, if we can keep it a one goal game, we have a shot. If Miami pulls some goals, I fear we're going to be in trouble, as we just have no ability to score with regularity.

Keep up the posting guys-just got called out. Hopefully not anything that will take too long but with some of these ER calls i just never know. Hope to be back for the third period.

Re: Miami at RPI, 1/2/15

Miami won the first period with their territorial advantage. The goal was very soft and I am sure Kasdorf would agree with that. We kept Miami to the outside for the most part, and they did not have a lot of great scoring chances.
With this lineup, we have to play defense first and hope to convert our chances. Something we did not do in the first period.
