Meth, I Hear You Callin': The Final Season of Breaking Bad

Re: Meth, I Hear You Callin': The Final Season of Breaking Bad

Last night's episode was up against the Emmy Awards, the NFL and the series finale of Dexter. Nonetheless, Breaking Bad had its best ratings ever, drawing 6.6 million viewers.

Re: Meth, I Hear You Callin': The Final Season of Breaking Bad

It's a shame it's only drawing that much. Walking Dead gets double and is not even in the same discussion for quality.

Re: Meth, I Hear You Callin': The Final Season of Breaking Bad

I wonder if part of it is that BB goes up against Sunday Night Football...?

I know of a few people who are either catching up, or just waiting until the series ends, and then plowing through it. I'm sure some of these "bigger" series have a good number of people doing that.

Re: Meth, I Hear You Callin': The Final Season of Breaking Bad

I don't watch the show, but this was on the NESN Web page. If it's a spoiler, I've whited out the text

The biggest twist of Breaking Bad’s final season wasn’t what many critics predicted, but that a hockey game made its way into a show primarily shot in the New Mexico desert. For non-watchers, don’t worry — this will be as spoiler-free as possible. In Sunday’s penultimate episode of the series, a certain character went to a certain bar in a certain New England state. A hockey game could be heard playing on the TV behind the bar and through snippets of play-by-play and color commentary, the hockey game has been identified. Through name drops of former University of Wisconsin players Tim Rothering, Kevin Granato and eventual NHL-er Mark Rycroft and Denver University goalie Stephen Wagner, the game has been identified as the Feb. 13, 1998 matchup between the Wisconsin Badgers and Denver Pioneers. Down 3-1 with just over six minutes to play in the third, Wisconsin would storm back to score six goals and win the game 7-4. Avid fans of Breaking Bad know how creator Vince Gilligan rarely drops hints without later picking them back up, so does Wisconsin’s classic comeback foreshadow a possible redemptive series finale on Sept. 29? The certain character in the bar is clearly down in the proverbial third with not much time left for a comeback.

Re: Meth, I Hear You Callin': The Final Season of Breaking Bad

joe: it's been rumored that it could be a simple nod to Jesse's old friend Badger. Could be more, but I don't think so.

Re: Meth, I Hear You Callin': The Final Season of Breaking Bad

I hope that hockey game doesn't mean we won't get any Badger in the finale.

Re: Meth, I Hear You Callin': The Final Season of Breaking Bad

The ricin will be for Gray Matter...the gun for the Nazis.

Re: Meth, I Hear You Callin': The Final Season of Breaking Bad

Or (crazy idea here), the ricin is for Walt. But first he has to kill Jesse (for continuing to make his blue meth) and the Aryans (for not killing Jesse) with the BFG.

He'll tape a confession (including how he used techniques that he originated at GM to make meth) then take the ricin. He's going out on his own terms, not according to the law and not according to cancer.

Interesting take. I agree he's going out on his own terms, I just think it's the suicide-by-shootout with the Nazis.

Re: Meth, I Hear You Callin': The Final Season of Breaking Bad

Possibly a spoiler below...

SUPPOSEDLY the last shot is of the Simms Building (DEA) but that may be as accurate as the church scene in the last episode. If that is the case, my speculation is Walt takes some ricin and turns himself in, thus guaranteeing he can confess to what he wants to confess to, guarantee his legacy as "Heisenberg" and hopefully protect Skyler but still go out on his own terms and die of "the flu" after a few days.

On a related note, since the church scene was shot and never used it does give some credence to the rumor floating around that the DVD will have multiple endings.

Re: Meth, I Hear You Callin': The Final Season of Breaking Bad

Who lives, who dies?

Walt - dies.
Jesse - dies.
Skylar and baby - lives.
Junior - lives.
Marie - lives.
Todd - painful death.
Todd's Uncle - dies.
Lydia - dies.
The rest of skin head crew - dead.
Saul - lives.

People will be dying like it is Shakespear.

It IS Shakespeare. It always has been.

I say Lydia lives, unless she commits suicide due to pressure and/or fear.
The "Whites" live, along with Marie.
Jesse lives.
Saul lives. I think he's in the wild blue yonder, never to be heard of again.
Everyone else dies.

Huell is still sitting in that room, soon to wander off to Mandyland to roam the Pine Barrens for all eternity.

There's a "Huell waits" video on youtube that for some reason cannot be found on my iphone. It's an hour long.

I think Walt was ****ed about how his contribution to Grey Matter was dismissed. But he also learned from that interview that Sky Blue was making a comeback. I don't think he is after Elliot and Gretchen. He doesn't want someone else producing his signature product - his legacy. The same thing will eventually happen with Sky Blue / Heisenberg as happened with Grey Matter / Walter White (his contribution, his genius is forgotten) unless he puts and end to the Nazi's operation. He lost his family, his legacy and ego is all that is left.

Here's the problem with that theory: He is the one who taught Todd how to make the blue. Why wouldn't he expect it to still be in production?

That is true. But the Grey Matter interview reminded him the only thing he has left is his legacy. If Sky Blue lives on after his death soon his contribution will be overlooked. Just like Grey Matter.

But I'm just pulling something out of my *** here. I can't imagine Grey Matter will play a huge roll in the final episode since there is so much unfinished business with Jesse, Uncle Jack, and Todd

Actually...
spoiler?

Someone pieced together interviews and news stories that insinuate the woman who plays Gretchen (Jessica Hecht) will be in the finale. She is in a play on Broadway and the Charlie Rose scenes were filmed in New York, however, a newspaper story had her in New Mexico filming for the show. That seems to indicate she will be in the final episode. However, there is the earlier idea that the DVD will have alternate endings on it so it doesn't mean Gretchen will be on the one that airs.
