i'm glad i stirred things up in here so you get some action for a change but to the point.............. you cant erase 25 years worth of why you got the rep you have because we have Miles Wood this year. Not working......

I'm not trying to say BC is some team full of hacks, just pointing out they have had their share of them, just like Merrimack, just like every other team in the country. And 25 years? Wow, great math classes over there at the Heights. Serino had some goon teams, but it was maybe 4-5 years. 25 years? Please. We have been D1 for only about 25 years.

I always knew Parker wanted us out of the league! :D

Early in Dennehy’s tenure, during the annual coaching convention held in Florida, former Boston University head coach Jack Parker approached him and pitched that Merrimack would be better off in another league, but Dennehy held his ground that Merrimack was just where it belonged. Parker even went as far as to promise BU would still put Merrimack on the schedule, should it decide to leave.

“Fast forward a few years later, it’s a full house, we’re getting record crowds,” Dennehy said. “To Coach Parker’s credit, and this is why he’s such a class guy, I remember the year we went to the Garden, we’re playing BU here and Glenn Hofmann was the athletic director at the time and I remember going up to Jack before the game just to catch up and see how they’re doing. Jack makes a point to grab Glenn and says, ‘You know, this guy made a fool of me. I didn’t think you guys were meant to be in this league, and now you might go ahead and win the whole thing.'”

I KNEW that Miles Wood comment would elicit some responses:D
Actually, MC is a lot less "Merri-hacky" this year than in the past (oh, Kyle Bigos, how we miss you!). Wood is an outstanding player, but even you guys have commented that he plays right on (sometimes over) that hairy edge (although I would never, as one poster suggested, call for someone to leg check him). Your team can clearly handle taking the penalties with the depth of scoring and record setting goal-tending that you have. Demko is in "Ryan Miller" territory right now.

Did you know Hockey East does not include all-time penalty minute records on their website? It turns out I googled Bigos this morning after being unsatisfied with Hockey East (a common theme here in every freakin way) and my suspicions were confirmed that he is indeed the all-time leader in PIMs in HE history.

Wood is for sure on the edge with some of his stuff. I think York has probably talked with him about reigning it in but that's a fine line. Would be surprised to see it continue as the post season gets closer though.....

How can that be when he played in the same league as Joey Diamond?????? :eek:

good memory!

scanned hockey DB for some usual suspects (bigos, gryba, diamond & petrecki)

diamond has 467 in 135 games (3.46 per game), bigos 457 in 133 (3.44 per game). petrecki not nearly the aggregate total but in 2 years put up 3.42

boy was gryba on his best behavior as an underclassman: only 130 in 70 games

I remembered that from a few years ago, and it was in the weekly notes column, January 14, 2013...."…Kyle Bigos became Hockey East's all-time penalty minute leader and has 418 career....."
Much like Hack Wilson's 191 RBI, and Joltin' Joe's 56 game hit streak, I think this record is safe.......;)

Prestin Ryan had a solid 3.44 his Junior year. Made the Dean's list I hear! ;)

Well, BC has had 1 suspension this season for an illegal hit. Merrimack has had none. So no?

Yes, you see he was talking about the fact that his precious Eagles don't like to get hit.

And don't you know Andrew Alberts, Nate Gerbe, Nick Petrecki ... all of those guys were perfect skating angels while at BC :)

Actually i think this team would welcome it. Had a few team scrums earlier in the year.
