Merrimack College Hockey 2009-2010

Re: Merrimack College Hockey 2009-2010

Hokydad, Merrimack is recruiting a scholarship goaltender for next year to replace Brathwaite. He will probably play in at least a few games. Drew is a walk-on, solely there to open the door at home games.

I respect your opinions and you are fairly knowledgeable, but sometimes your wild and abrasive comments go over the top. Obviously, Cannata is a good goalie and will be the starter as long as he is at Merrimack, but I'll guarantee you he never starts more than 30 regular season games.

Irishfan - any news on who Merrimack is looking at to bring in as a goalie next year?

Re: Merrimack College Hockey 2009-2010

Hopefully Canatta gets the nod Tuesday.
Braithwaite owns BC.

As much as it pains me to agree with hokydope...

I can't find anything to suggest that. 1-1-0 (3 no decisions) over his career. And unless my math is wrong, 4.18 GAA and .872 save %.

That's not pretty.

Re: Merrimack College Hockey 2009-2010

speaking of not pretty....7-0 is not a fun night. All you can do is take this one on the chin and move on. It's bound to happen from time to time with a program that's just starting to make it's move up in the ranks of HE. Just put it out of your mind and get ready for the weekend. Hopefully dacosta returns and the goaltenders can forget this ever happened

Re: Merrimack College Hockey 2009-2010

Where were you two when he was 4-0-1 with a 1.5 GA and save pct of over 940. When team picked up 9 of 10 Hockey east points? In the same 5 games they picked up 4/5 road Hockey east points.. Their only road points all year

FYI, the 9/10 points in 5 consecutive Hockey East games is the best showing in the history of Hockey East for Merrimack.

I noticed you two were on other boards trashing teams when they were losing and only jumped back over here when they lost.

Go figure.

Pretty sad when people dump on a kid who has been such a positive influence on an org becauswe tehy dont like me. The feeling ios mutual but i would not waste my time tyrashing a kid to prove what you two are. You do that yourself.

Anyone know why DaCosta didn't play? Also, any update on his status for the weekend?

Re: Merrimack College Hockey 2009-2010

let's just hope the kid from ol' paris will be back this weekend. If not then i guess there's not much you can do about it. Whether he's in the lineup or not there is no way we can play as poorly as we did @ BC on tuesday. I think the fact that he was a scratch so close to game time really took a toll on the mind's of the other guys. There is a certain flow before a game that was probably lost when they knew dacosta wasn't going to be out there with them.

:D I guess I blew that one. Probably should have just left it at, I hope Canatta gets the start. In the his 4 starts vs. BC prior to Tuesday's game, BC had scored 17 goals on Joe.
Ruffled some feathers though, eh? ;)

BTW hokyhoke... I'm not knocking the kid. I was just stating who I'd prefer to see in net when BC plays the Mack. I've seen Brathwaite play pretty well vs BC. Have yet to see Canatta do so.

Re: Merrimack College Hockey 2009-2010

losing 4-3 in OT to them last year as a true 18 year old freshmen with 34 saves, 17 of them coming in the third period isnt that bad... Getting beat by a Brock Bradford from Ben Ferriero power play goal.. You sure give AB a lot of credit vs bc with 1 win in 4 years. Whoever is in net we all pull for

I've seen them both play against BC. I'd prefer BC face Canatta than Brathwaite when the 2 teams play. That is all. JMO.

Good, e-mail Dennehy and let him know

I would also ask York, he might have a different take.

Re: Merrimack College Hockey 2009-2010

irish85 and hokydad - SLU, Bowling Green, LSSU all signed goalies this week - was Merrimack looking at any of them?

Weninger (Flin Flon), Zacharias (Pembroke), Kapalka (Vaughan).

Re: Merrimack College Hockey 2009-2010

21 goals against in 5 starts (4.2 gpg).
You really think that's necessary? ;) :p

Yes, seeing that he said it was his biggest recruiting mistake in the past 5+ years. A kid from BCH who he stood and watched beat CM at Harvard, 1-0 while being outshot 38-12 in the Super 8, in front of a packed house. Then saw him get invited out of that to a tryout at us natl team, which he made and was the number 1 guy. York was leaving for frozen four and was planning on inviting him in when he got back, but while tyhe cat was away, the mouse, AKA Coach Dennehy scooped him up... Which in the end was what they both wanted, JC and MD.

York would kill to have gotten him, a fellow BCH grad and a player with a long history of stealing games.

many, many examples
