Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

Re: Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

I read that article this morning. It rings true. As someone who was at the school during "the toughest times (02-07)" I feel like Mike really captured the demise of UAH so well. I honestly and truly believe that tonight a UAH chant should rise up towards the end of the game. These kids, coaches and everyone involved with the program deserves better.

Yale lost to Sacred Heart, who was 0-11-0 coming into the game. A good cautionary tale for a highly ranked team taking on a winless opponent!

I agree, the Warriors had better not take the Chargers lightly. With nothing to lose, pride on the line, clearly the underdog, UAH is a dangerous opponent. MC needs to bring the work ethic and not get drawn into a special teams battle. A loss tonight would be disasterous for the Warrior's ranking.

Sad state for the UAH players and staff but you will be surprised how bad this team is. The real trap will be keeping the players from going to individual and picking up bad habits. MC could beat them 5/4 all game...

They need to stay focussed and play their game regardless of the score. that is the only trap here

Re: Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

That would be a classy thing to do, know the guys would appreciate it. Also appreciate you guys steppig up & scheduling the games, every MC fan I met in Nashville was very nice.

The new president is at least expressing his willingness to meet with folks and review the decision, so all hope isn't gone, yet.

I was surprised that the game was not closer. Congrats to the Warriors for staying on task and getting a convincing victory.

This is the best team in the country vs. the worst, no surprise at all in the margin of victory. It's true, UAH looked like Serino-era MC, but even worse, at least we could beat Brown etc back then.

We'll be seein' ya, Alabama.

Retained the #1 spot (as expected), with 48 of 50 1st place votes. MC, BC and ND, 1-2-3. Catholics rule!:D
Next up: PC at the Coffin.

who were the two fools that voted for BC?;)

Re: Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

In the USA Today poll Merrimack received all the first place votes. So this week isn't a total loss!

What are everyone's thoughts on the upcoming series against Providence. I think we will likely see a split.

Re: Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

Boy, the vitriol being spewed by WCHA fans about MC's #1 ranking is pretty amusing. Even most of the BC fans on this board admit that the 'Mack is pretty darn good this year (some more begrudgingly than others ;))
I'm headed down to PC on Friday night. Lookin' forward to it.

Re: Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

I too see a split this weekend and Merrimack falling to #5 in the country. I think they will be there in the end it just hurts that the teams they have played in conference have been so weak. No one could have seen Vermont falling as far as they have or that Maine would not play better at Alfond. Also I wish Merrimack would start scheduling home and home with teams in the WCHA and CCHA. For example play a Lake Superior or St. Cloud State one year at Merrimack and than the next year go out there. Although they are not national powers like Merrimack they are respectable programs and it would great to see some teams from out west or go out there.

Well they don't have a chance to see MC that much and MC has not had much exposure to the top rankings in the polls. HE is a strong conference traditionally with BC, BU, Maine, UNH as the top teams. MC has a different recruiting style, they tend to have older players than the BC's and BU's.
