Merrimack '21-'22: Can't a guy get a thread around here?

Borgiel looked a little "cleaner" compared to Ollas (I am also considering the game he beat BC. He had some shaky moments there even in a shutout).

Really ridiculous the refs have helped BU so much given that the way tonight is going if BU wins they might be the only hockey east team to get in NCAA tourney.

St Clown up 3-0 over CC midway through third, so if that score holds, Mack should be 15th, unless I am missing something?

Oh for the love of God. The refs didn’t help BU. If Bu had seven PP goals your whine would hold more weight.

Been a long time since I've come to or posted on these boards...probably about 12 years since we had something to really cheer about. But congrats to the boys. Great season. Tough finals. Thought we had it. Didn't like all the calls early, but MC held strong. The only thing I hated more, in terms of penalties, than that ticky tack call that made it 5 on 3 in the first was the non-call at the end of regulation when everyone in the building and watching on NESN knew the MC player was tripped...but at that point, the refs had put their whistles away (thankfully). Great showing by the MC students and alumni. Looks like we are on to Bridgeport if all the predictions seem right. The Q is going to be a tough, tough, tough out, but with our goalies, anything is possible. Does Borgiel get the start where it's been a steady rotation all year? Or do they stick with the goal Monster Ollas? 2.5 hour ride doesn't seem so bad. WE'll see if they have the early or late game.

Also, Scarlett, were you in attendance last night, sitting in the section next to the band? It's been about 12 years since I've seen ya, but I thought it might have been you.

Good luck boys. Let's make some noise in CT!!!

No, I was down in loge 3, kinda underneath them. Congrats again on making the NCAAs! There’s something about this team that should scare everyone. Good luck in Bridgeport! Glad they didn’t send you guys west. Your fan support at the Garden this weekend was outstanding. Hopefully you can do the same this weekend.

What a weekend of hockey. MERRIMACK fans were out in full voice (although I was not a fan of the "F" ULowell chants....not classy). C'mon, be better than that.
Great to catch up with so many of my classmates.
Gotta admit, I was a little verklempt during the pregame on Friday night. This is foreign territory for my alma mater. I was there when they won the ECAC's in '77 and the 1st DII National Championship in '78, but a chance at a Hockey East title and getting into the NCAA tournament is a different beast. I'm loving it!
I'll be in Bridgeport this weekend cheering them on (provided that the expected matchups hold). Both my daughter and son-in-law are QU grads so it will be a no lose affair from a family perspective.
Hey MCHOCKEY, don't be a stranger to the board. There was plenty to cheer and post about all season!

Go Warriors!

Great season by Merrimack - Championship game could have gone either way. As other posters have said - MC will be a difficult out in NCAA's, well deserved.

I'm gonna try to get down there, but trying to find someone to go with. The 2.5 hour trek alone seems not so fun and where I'm not feeling well, everything is on hold right now. Had they had the early game, I was definitely gonna head down. We'll see how I feel as the week goes on. Go Mack!!!

And we're on to Bridgeport!!

Better bring your correct unis or else! BWAHAHAHA...Just for fun, I contacted a HE blogger that I know from Twitter who's pretty involved...asked
him what the uni 'protocol' is...he was going to look into it but felt that basically the top seed picks their color, the other team can't pick that color.
Since MC does own white, they couldn't wear that since BU picked their whites. I look forward to his response, that is, if I get one :-)

OH well...just win baby!

Could have been Allentown if not for avoidance of an ECAC matchup.

I personally think Merrimack matches up better with QU than they would Michigan. Add in they should be able to get some fan support to Bridgeport and I will not be surprised at all if Mack wins this game.

...and better make sure they don't enter the ice surface early!! Although the GOLD uni's certainly provided sufficient color contrast, those ARE Merrimack's home colors so that may have been the reason they shouldn't have worn them. I get that.
They'll be a lot of Blue and Gold on the ice against QU.

And for the love of God, if it happens, don't challenge the winning goal when there's no rational reason to challenge.

For real. I would not put it past Coach Pecknold saying something and/or the officials being aware of last weekend.

I didn't have an issue with any of the coaches challenging over the weekend. What do you have to lose? Offsides are often missed. Goaltender interference can be missed too. You literally have nothing to lose. If you challenge and the goal stands, your season is still over. It's always worth a shot. I think OT goals should always be reviewed for every possible aspect so coaches don't have to challenge but as a coach, you hope something was missed even if it wasn't obvious. Hell, I've seen goalie interference called for a guy skating by and his stick hits the goalie and knocks him off his spot. It's worth it in my mind. It seems like bad sportsmanship, but again, nothing to lose. Season is over with or without the challenge. Might as well take a look at EVERYTHING.
