I'd say Tuesday @Amherst, Coach Bob Miele's alma mater will be a pretty good indication of where they are at, but 6-0 is an impressive start especially considering they won all of 7 games last season.

Yeah I hope there is live video of that game. I'd love to watch!

I know Westfield has their games via webcast not sure on Amherst though. In other news this weeks poll on d3hockey.com has Westfield cracking the top 15... Amherst checking in at 8th spot. A win Tuesday could do a lot for this Westfield program...

Quiet college hockey night last night aside from a NCAA first round rematch from last year with Plymouth and Wentworth playing in Boston. I actually made the trip down to Boston to see it and aside from the parking debacle at Matthews Arena ($25 or meter parking on Northeastern campus) I'm glad I did. It was a great back and forth battle with Plymouth eventually getting a much needed 2-1 win. Happy Thanksgiving to all you fellow MASCAC fans! Travel safe!

Certainly the case last night!
No doubt Amherst was the best team Westfield has played to date but Plymouth and Western New England are not weak sisters so Westfield can compete with top teams. NESCAC hockey is definitely a different style than MASCAC - less dependent on the physical, more dependent on speed and positioning which was very apparent on the powerplay and penalty kill. It was fun to watch the contrasting styles (would have been more fun if the result was a bit closer).
No doubt Amherst will have a great season. I'm sure Westfield will get back to winning after the break.

With all due respect to Westfield St and their hot start the true big 4 of the MASCAC square off this weekend with Salem @ Plymouth on Thursday in a rematch of last year's championship game and Fitchburg taking on UMD on Saturday. Who you guys taking??? I'll take Plymouth and UMD personally although I would anticipate Salem being jacked up for this one and testing the Panthers back at the site of last year's title defeat. Thoughts??? Also for UNHHurst feel free to chime in on Westy taking on both UMD and Salem this weekend... Biggggg weekend for them if they can prove they're legit with a couple wins.

UMD 2 - Westfield 1
Pace picked up after very routine first period. Well played game with good pace and even play. UMD goalie played outstanding and made some very key saves late. Westfield had 5 on 3 for full 2 minutes late in third but couldn't generate anything out of it.
