Mariucci Classic (Colgate, FSU, Minnesota, RPI) 1/3/14 - 1/4/14

Re: Mariucci Classic (Colgate, FSU, Minnesota, RPI) 1/3/14 - 1/4/14

I heard RPI was supposed to have some games this weekend. There was this big countdown. Anyone know if they showed up for them?
:D

(sorry but it had to be done. ;) )

Nice interview on WRPI. :)

I did not see the Colgate/Ferris State game. Was Colgate the better team or did they just get the bounces? Either way, the outcome was a big surprise.

We got to the arena with a couple of minutes left in the first. Ferris appeared to convert on a power play, but that was waved off for a hand guiding the puck. They had some chances after that but not a lot of great looks at the net. Colgate converted on their chances and seemed in control once they got up by two. I commented to my wife early in the third that I did not feel that Ferris would get a goal. They didn't.

From a Colgate fan thanks for the congrats. I know the Gophers were short a couple players & the coach; it might have been different if they were there. We'll never know.

Colgate played a couple of great road games. I liked the way they were willing to get in there and dig in front of the opponent's net. They are deserving Mariucci champions.

The Minny game might have been a surprise but Ferris wasn't. Colgate had already shut them out 1-0 earlier in the year.

Do you typically smother frosting on yourself when you eat cupcakes? **** off.

Did you just imply that your own team is a cupcake for us? Not typically how trash talking works, but hey I can roll with that too. Who doesn't love a good cupcake? Frosting? That's a little too personal for a message board.

:p

Yes, he did, because he's an idiot.

All you had to do to beat RPI was survive the first. Teams that actually prepare for us know this, as it's been happening since Appert stepped foot behind the players. Not all that difficult.

Just like that, he provides more evidence of my assertion.

Wow, you truely are the picture of fandom that all teams hope pack their stands. You're making Vikings fans look optimistic, and that is tough.

RPI fanbase is currently trying to trade him to the Cubs for Steve Bartman. Cubs fanbase said No F'in way!

We don't even need Steve Bartman, a ball will suffice.

You might have missed the analogy. If someone promised me that I'd never hear from FlagDUDE ever again for the rest of my life, but RPI had to finish 12th in the ECAC for that to happen, I'd sign up for that without batting an eye - gotta take the long view.

Maybe not as soft as a cupcake but not as hard as ACalc either. RPI has played just above an average schedule and is .500. Sounds like a middle of the road team to me and certainly not NCAA caliber. Unlike some of my fellow RPI alumni who are too close to the team to be objective, I look at the results and nothing that I have seen makes me believe that Appert has a clue as to how to fix this. It is one thing to be a fan, its another to be delusional.
