Maine @ UNH 10/24: Will Whitehead finally pop?

Re: Maine @ UNH 10/24: Will Whitehead finally pop?

Standbook is College Hockey...a dedicated man...and when he did his job he did it because he enjoyed it and was the best at it....when he step down to be a volunteer coach he was the same man,dedicated...loved the game and would do anything to make UMaine Hockey the best...even if it was with..{R.I.P.}..Walsh or with Whitehead behind the bench....and if a new man would come in place say next season{Lets HOPE}...don't bet that he wouldn't be there to help out IF ASKED...and do it for the good of UM Hockey........not everone needs to retire and start rocking the chair....they can do anything if they are up to the task...and that would Mr. Standbrook.

I agree. I was hopeful seeing him at the blue/white game he was working with the team again.

JB - They're idiots.

Re: Maine @ UNH 10/24: Will Whitehead finally pop?

If Standbrook isn't part of the program because of Whitehead, he's an idiot and he needs to go. I met Whitehead once...nice guy.

OK, everyone. Here are their email addresses:
robert.kennedy@maine.edu
james.a.blake@maine.edu

And here is your form letter. Start cutting, pasting, and sending:

Dear Messrs. Kennedy and James,

I am writing to you both today in the hope that you will ask for the resignation of the men's hockey coach, Mr. Whitehead, effectively immediately. Over the last three years, Mr. Whitehead has brought what was once a proud symbol of our state and our university to its knees. The coach's lack of passion, motivational abilities, recruiting prowess, winning, and --most of all -- respect for and of his players have led to a program that's become an embarrassment to the University, and to the state of Maine.

If the gradual lack of respect shown our once proud hockey team isn't enough for you to ask for his resignation, please let the financial impact of Mr. Whitehead's abysmal record -- on and off the ice -- do the talking. Through decreased alumni sponsorship (e.g. the King family, countless NHL players, longtime Black Bear boosters, and so many other alumni), declining gate receipts (from guaranteed sellouts to ticket give-aways), non-existent TV deals (only 1 broadcast this year outside of WABI), the University of Maine and its supporters have suffered suffered long enough.

Finally, you may not have the opportunity to replace Mr. Whitehead with someone as qualified as Bob Corkum for long....you need to act now. Mr. Corkum brings a passion for "Maine hockey" (long-time Black Bear fans know what this means), 4 years of UMaine playing experience under Shawn Walsh, 12 years of NHL experience, and surely the respect of the current players.

If you wish to "stop the bleeding" in the Maine hockey program, and begin the turnaround before the program is rendered beyond repair, please ask for Mr. Whitehead's resignation effective immediately, and let the healing begin -- on your watch. I can assure you that the results -- both short term and long term -- of replacing Mr. Whitehead with Mr. Corkum will be something you will be proud of, and commended for.

Respectfully,

Why would I want to send that e-mail? It's all wrong. Re-word it a bit (starting with, "I am writing to you both today in the hope that you will extend the contract of the men's hockey coach, Mr. Whitehead, effectively immediately." and continue in that vein), and I'll gladly send it. Hell, I'll send it 200-300 times! ;)

"And assistants Guy Perron and Grant Standbrook have departed due to differences of opinion with head coach Tim Whitehead."

Well, if it's in a respected paper like the BDN, it must be true.

Slap, I posted Kennedy's phone number in the season thread, but no one called... Maybe a form letter will be different. I'm sure Kennedy will give it all the attention it deserves.

Re: Maine @ UNH 10/24: Will Whitehead finally pop?

First Hockey post of the season:)

The following is what Maine needs to turn the program around:

1. Move the campus to Portland and send USM to Bangor.

2. Better coaches

3. Better players

4. Move the campus to Portland

5. Resurrect Shawn Walsh

6. Hire an alum--is Paul Kariya available?

7. Did I say move the campus to Portland?

UNH wins this one and it's all good:D

If the campus moves to Portland then Maine might play UHN at the CCCC and have just as much success as UHN has playing at Verizon. Plus its an easier road trip.

And Portland has better bars...that seems to be important to the folks from Durham. :p

Re: Maine @ UNH 10/24: Will Whitehead finally pop?

if you only knew the things that they really said...
and
what do you mean, nobody called?

were you the receptionist too?
many called, many wrote letters... some of us proof read the letters of others.

if you need the password, i can let you have the KnowItAll name.. it fits you a little better.
I think you have used up all of your brain cancer sympathy niceness from the rest of us.
Nobody is happy your apoptosis is out of kilter, but it does not give you free reign to post complete idiocy without follow up.

I'm all torn up that you feel I've used up all my "sympathy niceness." That's really going to keep me up at night.

Re: Maine @ UNH 10/24: Will Whitehead finally pop?

**** you Timmay. I am not renewing my season tickets as long as that *** hole ****** bag is behind the bench.

The UMO campus is nice but Orono is too far from the heart of HE. You could say the same thing about UVM but UVM is in Burlington which has a lot more going on than Orono. Not sure what you mean about becoming another UNH but thank you for not thanking me I guess.

The State of Maine did not establish its university in Orono for the pleasure of UNH lushes looking for something to do when they attend road games.
