Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

O'Connor was wearing 16...
you wanna take the Mulligan? or do you also think that Umile can barely whistle?

I know what number he wears. Open your eyes and watch the game. Pryor was the only one who's skating ability or lack thereof in that game led to more PC goals.

Saw both PC games in person.

I only noticed O'Connor when he impressed me with his skating, which is exactly what I want to see from the Maine D.

Were you watching his brother, who plays for PC..?At any rate, the wording of your post makes no sense.St. Paddy's Day seems to have come a little early this year!

:p

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

I have to agree on O'Connor....he's a keeper. I also thought Pryor looked equally if not more impressive. I know we didn't see him much last year because he was hurt but that kid has good size and is physical and he can skate well. If either of them turn out to be half the player Prestin was (minus the penalties of course) I'll be very happy.

In the past decade for defensemen, Prestin Ryan and Peter Metcalf were both a cut above everyone else as far as I'm concerned.

Never noticed him much, which is a good thing!(But Banwell was giving me fits.)

I agree:Metcalf and Ryan were elite among Maine's all-time D,as was Weinrich,but-and showing my age now-I'd take Andre Aubut over any of 'em.

It's a rare thing,to see a defenseman take over a game, but 'But used to do that all the time.He and Gary Conn were most responsible for vaulting the Bears into the national mix, pretty much overnight.None of you young bucks were alive to see 'em,but they were as good as ever put on the Maine sweater.(Except for PK.)

open my eyes?
interestingly, I had my eyes opened and I noticed his stride
his balance, his knees, his extension, where his heels are during his stride, (and where Pryor's heels are ) his quick feet, his cross overs going foreward and backward, his low center of gravity, which part of his body he uses while checking.... you clearly missed ALL OF THAT, but he can barely skate.

interestingly you noticed Pryor's skating abilities and I agree with you, but you think O"connor can barely skate, I think that DaCosta can barely shoot

Great catch by Maine, although the kid seemed to "recruit himself".This Monarch pipeline has been paying off.Bob Corkum deserves a raise!

What a couple of Negative Nellies.

I realize that everything is relative(to wit,we're not talking about Walsh-era blue-chippas here),but these kids are a waaaay better than the ham-handed grinders Timmy was bringing in just before Corkum showed up.

Right?

The idea is to win, so while the recruits are better, in the end winning is the goal.

Amen!!! The Jr. Monarchs produce a bunch of college players.......and Maine is getting many of them. Much better to establish a pipeline there than to scour Canada for 21 year old grinders and everyone's sloppy seconds and thirds from the New England Prep and the USHL!

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

No the Monarch pipeline sucks, I really wish we didn't have Brian Flynn and Matt Mangene, they don't contribute anything.

LOL........and they say that Rutt and Morgan are both horrible recruits too!

And that former Monarch d-man Dumoulin that's at BC has been a bust!!!

0 NCAA trips, 0 HE titles* and currently on the outside looking into the NCAA tournament as of this morning ... yes these guys are really helping Maine turn it around to match the FFs they went to when Standbrook was recruiting those older Canadians. Pure coincidence I tells ya! Oh it's Whiteheads fault, he has more talent than the Red Wings, he's just ruining it!!!

*technically 1 moral HE title

So are you saying that the Jr. Monarchs don't produce good college hockey recruits/players???......because if that is what you are saying, I am wondering why BC seems to have a little pipeline there as well and why other schools are signing their kids?????.........
