Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

I just got confirmation from USA Hockey that McNeely has de-committed from Maine. Hopefully I will have quotes from McNeely by the end of the week

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

Whoa. How many decommits is this in the past 12-18 months? This has to be a record for a program that hasn't experience a coaching change. I've never seen anything like this.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

The guy was 15 when he committed, why would anyone be shocked when he changes his mind? Has Maine had any of the 15yr olds not change their minds:rolleyes:

Same as why Arnold walked and is now hooked on with Lowell. Whitehead jerked him around and has zero ability to bond with them and to get them to want to be part of Maine. The goalie is different, he sees greener pastures, whcih is shocking woth his record. Have seen him play 2 or 3 times this year and he was not the answer.

Corkum should 100% be in charge of that part of the team.

The kids a warrior and stand up kid.

Maine's loss, Lowells gain

I think it's up to 6 Watson, Gagne, Francisco, Arnold, Searfoss and McNeely. My guess is Ashley would be the next to go.

No doubt......it's almost a joke to continue to list him as a Maine recruit.

I wonder if Maine can gets any transfers from USM?

Blake James better get his head out of his *ss and realize what is going on here........if the tide doesn't turn soon, Maine is in for another fall in a couple of years.

I think Ashley would be the first one to have any real negative impact on Maine. The other ones either weren't really good enough or de-committed far enough out that there was plenty of time to replace them.

Keep drinking the kool-aid..........they've replaced those losses with ONE commitment (Cam Brown.......he's about 5-5, 140#).

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

Maine has had it's two best years recruiting in a long time. We lose 0 impact players in the 4 seniors this year, have 1 huge flight risk in Nyquist.

And we're b*tching about recruiting? I'd like to see some more signed for 2011, but given the track record the past 2 years I would say this is not an area of weakness. And with the team winning again it should raise Maine's status!

And the way you guys are talking about Arnold you'd think he was a primo recruit. He's got 0 goals this year! Last year everyone was up in arms when McEachen decommited and went to Clarkson when Maine wanted him to wait a year. Now the kid has been kicked off the team before he played a game!

Worrying about this kind of stuff that you have no control over is ridiculous.

Noone knows who is going to pan out. Flynn was an invitee to Maine and now he's a star. Mangene was panned as just a kid who could skate and he has been tremendous. Nick Pryor and Diamond were touted on this board as stars, and both have struggled, while Shemanksy (another one no one hyped) has been superb!

So before we all hyperventilate let's take some deep breaths and see where we are in a couple of months. As I said these last two classes have been excellent and hopefully there is more where they came from!

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

I won't be able to speak to McNeely until the new year when he gets back from the Under-17 Challenge.

What I am hearing is Ashley is pretty firm on the Maine commitment. Although its still a year and half until he gets on campus. We all know things change.

Arnold is a player, period. Lowell knows it and so didnt the 3 or 4 other schools who were in pursuit.

the point was Whitehead does not know how to deal with these kids and jerks them around.

maine has won 4 or 5 games vs very poor teams and now all the bs over the past 2 years is forgotten.. I like the loyalty but please, let Corkum take the team and say bye bye to whitehead. He jerks kids around

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

Strange that 3 or 4 other schools would pursue him if they didn't know it.

Didn't know what? He walked away from Maine a while back after they tried to make him do another year, I.e. jerk him around more. Every Hockey East school knew this going back to the USHL Fall Classic in Sious City. Heard sevral of them discussing it after Waterloos game at the Tyson Center

Arnold would not be playing this year plain and simple if he was at Maine. He hasn't even managed to score a goal this year. I don't think asking an 18 year old who isn't ready to play at the college level to play another year of juniors is jerking them around. I don't really see how it helps players to develop to come in and just sit in the stands, especially ones who are younger. Isn't providence a good team according to you? We just swept them FYI.

Arnold is a very good player and would be in the line up if he was at maine, he is 19 and will be turning 20 in February. Like most freshmen, he would have his ups and downs but would have been a very good addition to the program and the community. If he was their 12th best forward, they would have a heck of a team, he would not be. The kids the Junior Bruins have sent up there over the years, Brett Tyler etc have all done very well. Arnold would not have been the exception.

Lets not make it a debate about him, he did nothing wrong

8 Forwards on Maines team last year had less then 3 goals, that being for the entire season.

Rarely do schools committ to a kid and then tell him to do another year. It does happen, BC and Northeastern have done it to a couple kids in the past few years. It is though looked at as a negative and Maine now has the rep as being a school who will play with your head and string you along.

PC is a program in a slump and working their way out of it. Good recruiting and strong young team.. If you saw the games last wekend, you could have seen that they are getting there, sooner then later
