Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

the men's 2009-10 hockey roster is out on the umaine web site

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

This could possibly be the worst senior class ever. Swallow, De Kastrozza, and Carriere have a grand total of 3 goals in 130 games at Maine....wow.

When you first saw or heard of them who would have thought Carriere was the best of the bunch

I'm sure they all wish there college careers had been better, but it would be nice to see a couple of them put together decent seasons this year. I thought Swallow was much better in the last couple of games last year. Its too bad he hurt his ankle in the blue-white game. Ankle injuries just do not heal well.

Swallow sat out a year prior to last year. I think he will show some improvement. Carriere is a defenseman so I don't expect a lot of scoring from him. Dek was a disappointment last year. He is capable of playing much better.

Swallow practiced the year he sat out and it usually doesn't take two years to get up to game speed. From what I saw of him last year he doesn't have the hands or foot speed to be much better than what he is and add on that he is 23 it looks like he peaked at Dartmouth. I don't expect much scoring out of Carriere either and he has 2 of the 3 goals which goes to show how bad this class has been although I do like his effort on the 4th line. De Kastrozza has scored zero goals in three years I doubt that changes much this year based on what he has shown the previous three when he wasn't injured.

IF....and this is a big IF

IF DeKaz gets his first lamplighter this year (frankly, I wouldnt mind him not being on the roster) how embarrassing will that be as a SENIOR FORWARD?

"Scoring his first collegiate goal...." over the announcers mic.

Carrierre is the only senior worth playing this year, and its not even for his offense...its for his grind line intensity.

In critical to report news (haha :p )....

Robby Dee changes his number to 7

Has anyone worn #1 since Frank Doyle?

Carrierre has good speed and effective on the powerplay as a forward. He ihas more of a forward profile than a defenseman.

Surprised Dee as a draft pick never developed at Maine...............

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

No one should be surprised at this point that players don't develop at Maine... It's been the clear case for the last 4 years. Not saying they didn't develop at all. But it seems that wathever improvement/development they showed, it was minimal, therefore you have to think they did it on their own...

Name me one player in the last 4-5 years that has developped noticably enough that you would say it had to be the way they were coached...

My 2 cents!

What you say is very true. I thought (just to name one), that Bret Tyler really developed between his 2nd and 3rd year. Didn't improve much more his senior year. Lack of player development has been the major problem for Maine Hockey.:(

Bret was injured most of his senior year

No discipline. No respect. No motivation.

Maine Hockey = *yawn*

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Four goalies listed?

I would guess that Seeley will be gone. We got some of the BC midgets coming in also from the looks of it. A couple of FR that are listed at 5'7" which means they're 5'4".

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Another bummer is once Payson is kicked off the team and Seeley quits/transfers there won't be any Mainuhs left on the team. :(

Hm! You can always call them Tweetie Birds as oppose to Big Bird! ;) :D

I was thinking about that
there are like
9 Freshmen
10 Sophomores
4 Jrs
3 seniors.

how much do you want to be that next year and the year after there will be the same, (7 upperclassmen), because of guys getting thrown off the team and getting asked not to come back, and leaving because the family advisor tells them that Detroit/Edmonton is sick of seeing them stagnate
