Maine @ Michigan State (10/14-15)

Re: Maine @ Michigan State (10/14-15)

With the itinerary they followed, I wouldn't be too sure of that. :p

Re: Maine @ Michigan State (10/14-15)

East Lansing is one of those "Can't get they-ah from he-ah"

Re: Maine @ Michigan State (10/14-15)

Okay, from what I can tell it looks like CBS Sports is streaming both games over the internet through their ULive service. It's $14.99 for a monthly pass ($9.99 if you only want access to the MSU content), and for the Maine fans this would also get you the Friday night game against NoDak next week.

Has anyone every used the CBS Sports ULive service? Any reports on video quality, etc?

I watch many a game via all-access. It never fails to frustrate me as you don't know if it's working or not since they don't flip the switch until right before game time "sometimes". Other times it's going early enough to watch warmups. The quality is somewhat dependant upon your internet speed, but it is what it is... better than just the radio feed but not nearly as good as television. The MSU feed is pretty good but some rinks, not so much. If you've ever watched hockey via B2- you'll know what to expect.

Made it to East Lansing. Really looking forward to the game tomorrow night. The defense remains a question mark at this point in the season, but I am confident it will come around. Hopefully the offense will carry the team for a while until it does.

Glad your there and hope you post reports on the games. Never mind the ice cream have a few beers but not too many or we might doubt your accuracy.

anybody out there have the ability to broadcast the game on ustream.tv?

Wouldn't suggest it. I watched a game last year on there, thought it was a pass for just the month and then a couple months later, noticed the monthly charge still on my credit card, emailed to cancel (cause they don't let you call) got a confirmation back that I had cancelled and then a few months later noticed both the 14.99 and 9.99 charges on my card. Emailed back again and got no reply and eventually had to change my credit card number to stop getting the charges. So watch out with those bastids.

Re: Maine @ Michigan State (10/14-15)

Speaking of Manhattan, anyone know if there's a bar in NYC that will be showing the game? There's got to be an MSU joint somewhere in the city with access to Michigan's Comcast.

I was wondering the same thing about Chicago but I think I'm just gonna listen to it.

Re: Maine @ Michigan State (10/14-15)

in referencing the jet lag comment. you often don't get jet lag when you travel essentially one time zone west. it's usually when you go long distances east or compound trips. one plane trip west an hour (geographically its essentially an hour, i lived in indianapolis all summer and you get the full extra hour of light) is more likely to cause a DVT than any measurable jet lag. Now, just being plain tired, that might do the trick, but we're young! they should be able to rally just fine.

Re: Maine @ Michigan State (10/14-15)

Our goalies have limited to no big game road experience. Nerves lead to costly errors, and the teams tie 4-4 on Thursday.

Maine settles down on Friday and manages a 4-2 win on Friday.

Well, I hope for tomorrow's sake that I'm nailing this one on the head!

That should explain how your goalie had a little trouble closing the 5-hole. ;)

Re: Maine @ Michigan State (10/14-15)

Pretty exciting game and I was impressed with both teams.

Maine is certainly dangerous offensively and have an excellent powerplay.

It took us 20 minutes or so to get moving but once we did, i really liked what i saw(most of the time). I was confident the team would pull together but after a sloppy loss to Western Ontario, i was pretty anxious for these games to get underway. Gazely, Leveille and Grant can be a thrilling line and it is good to see Leveille light the lamp again.

Our powerplay did look pretty miserable most of the night, however. That 5 minute major was quite embarrassing. We did score a goal on it; however, it was pretty weak and Maine's goalie certainly will have nightmares. But credit to Maine, i thought their PK had wonderful gap control and did a great job forcing us to either make a move or dump it in at their blueline. Our penalty kill practically made me want to pull my hair out as well. I can't believe how many times we get the chance to clear it and just put it right on their stick at the point instead of fire it off the glass or wherever their defensemen aren't standing. Maine's 3rd goal was a direct result of this.

Palmisano did a good job stopping pucks but it still scares me when he comes out to play the puck. He also seemed a little less mobile in the crease.

The shorty was a nice surprise! Probably Mr. Merrifield's proudest moment as a spartan so far.

Should be another good one tomorrow!

Maines D, weak once again. Better learn to put teams away

Leveille's always had quick wheels but he looks like a more complete player now.

It was an embarrassment, but to run it they needed to be sharp physically and mentally and after expending a ton of energy last half of 2nd period/first half of 3rd period, they just didn't have it.
I still can't believe that 3rd goal got through! After 1:30 of a brutal power play that came out of nowhere. But Perlini got himself into a nice open space and Sirman was just plain slow on that one.

Definitely - I've seen him snap to his feet a lot more sharply than last night.

What a stick by Nill to get that out and wheels to get down the ice.

Was it defense or goal tending? As we all speculated in the offseason, Maine's goal tending is the determining factor for success. The goal tending corps will have to develop as the season progresses if Maine is going to make it to the post season.
