Re: Maine Hockey: Summer 2015 on the Stillwater

Quinnipiac coming into the Tuesday game Ranked #1 in the Country...I know Polls are Polls but they are coming in with a 19-1-3 record, something is going right over there. Long night ahead for Maine.?

Re: Maine Hockey: Summer 2015 on the Stillwater

"There will never be another Shawn".....blah blah blah. That phrase is getting as tired as many of the other catch phrases associated with this dusty program. Whitehead could not adjust to anything......he was a control freak with some hit and miss recruiting classes. He could NOT win a big game......way too conservative with the game on the line. Gendron just seems out of touch......and hasn't shown much coaching ability in terms of team motivation and individual player self-improvement. He refers to Alfond as the "Old Girl" in a manner that is meant to instill excitement in players and fans......and predictably just the opposite has happened.

Time to hire a young coach for $150K and save the program $60K per year that they can put into the assistant coaches and the recruiting budget.
Hear you...NOTHING wrong with having a Good & Solid Program...FWIW.

Re: Maine Hockey: Summer 2015 on the Stillwater

No, I wasn't saying that at all. I was saying there is very little talent in the class and it is hurting this year's teams. A lot of the guys just aren't big enough/don't have the physical tools necessary and no coaching is going to change that.

And yet, those are the only guys putting up points, while the freshman and sophomore classes ain't doing bupkis.

I don't expect much from the sophomores, recruited kind of late. Did expect something from the frosh, Robbins is the only forward showing me anything.

Athletic department trying to get fans to attend tonight's game. Free hot dogs and live music starting at 5:30.

Re: Maine Hockey: Summer 2015 on the Stillwater

Gendron was at the men's basketball game last night and handed out a bunch of vouchers for 2 free tickets for tonight at halftime yesterday.
Good Luck with that...I had 4 tickets that I "TRIED" to give away and not bench seats but Donor Chair Back Seats and no one wanted them and it wasn't because the Pat's were on TV but because of the on ice product...I did final give them to a family of 4 who could not afford to go to games...at least those got used and to people that WANTED them.

Re: Maine Hockey: Summer 2015 on the Stillwater

Not only are you guys beating the #1 team in the country you picked up a solid forward today...

'95 LW Tim Doherty (Junior Bruins) has committed to @MaineIceHockey. Solid, older forward with scoring touch out of USPHL and St. George's. (from Jeff Cox Twitter)

Heading into overtime. Rotten officiating in the last 2 minutes of the game led to a 6-3 power play for the Q with their goaltender pulled.

Re: Maine Hockey: Summer 2015 on the Stillwater

thought both calls were good as did announcers on Maine feed
How do you take 2 penalties in last 3 minutes
Maine called a timeout 11 seconds into overtime
Never saw that before

First line talent made difference for Quinnipiac in 3rd period

I agree totally. Maine has no discipline. They have demonstrated it in many other games this season.
