Re: Maine Hockey 2014-15 Volume 2: Red's Revenge

In business, price drops are rarely the solution to an increase in revenues. I agree, the problem in filling seats lies with the product. If they produce a better product on the ice, people will come again like they once did, when there was a good product.
Increase in revenue is only part of the issue, right? They also want to fill the arena. Anyone know where the AD sets that balance?

Re: Maine Hockey 2014-15 Volume 2: Red's Revenge

If they want people in the seats...pins and high 5's are NOT going to do it...nope...drop the prices and start winning then think about revenue...don't know but I bet that season ticket sales drop again this year(5% maybe?).

Im a season ticket holder and I have no interest in high fives or having my tickets delivered by Red. I want to see a quality product and for a reasonable price. I'm tempted to give up my tickets which I have had since I graduated college. Games don't sell out and I have little interest in going to every game when 1) the team is awful and 2) I no longer live in Bangor.

Well said. I think the fundamental problem Maine has is that there are so many single game tickets available and little discount on season tickets so there isn't much incentive for people to buy them. Last year was better but the schedule in recent times hasn't been overly exciting either. I can't imagine many people want to invest much money in seeing Maine play Canadian teams or American teams such as Bentley or AIC. Hopefully this is the year they bite the bullet and sell season tickets for something around $200 each. If they did this and kept prices for single game tickets the same I think they would see a huge boost in season tickets.

Since you don't care if people get single-game tickets for less money than you as STH, please let the university and athletic department know so they will feel empowered to do BOGO deals and "Family Night" and the like.

Brian Flynn had a goal and two assists to help Montreal in a 4-3 win over Ottawa in the NHL playoffs tonight. It was his first career 3 point game as a NHLer.

1st star too. Good timing.

In other news, Hawks pull Crawford. Scott Darling in.

Drop the PRICES of having a Season Ticket...make it a INCENTIVE to BUY a Season Ticket...I didn't say lower the Game day ticket...did I..????????????...you want little trinkets to your deal...cut the money down and get people to have a regular seat/section...but what-ever...its the same old/same old all the time...no deals @ UMaine Sports...but you can bet they will ask for more of your $$$$$$$$$...each and every time your there...if it does continue with a lower expectations product...season tickets will drop each and every year...and watch and see...even winning MAY NOT bring people back.

If only Scott Darling had his act together earlier.. That Maine team could have gone places..

I agree with you. That 2012 team would probably have been in the Frozen Four. Who knows how much further they would have gone.

So free pudding in the dining halls for the football guys now? What the hell is that all about

He is why Tim lost his job, no doubt in my mind. he is also why the team has tanked in recent years.

FF, maybe, but Maine might have been there with Darling on board.

Watched the Chicago game last night and rooted for him. What a performance. 42 saves and nary a goal allowed. He's really got it together and I'd expect him to start Game Two ahead of Crawford.

Better late than never; he's still a Bear in my mind. Now, we just need Bish to win one tonight...

Who would have thought that Bishop and Darling would end up being better NHL goalies than Howard? I sure wouldn't have, but at this point they both are.

Way too early to say that, IMO. Jimmy has been dinged-up all year, and has an impressive body of work in seasons past.

He wasn't good last year either and it looks like he's done as the starter in Detroit with Mrazek being 8 years younger and better. Although Bishop hasn't been impressive tonight either with 10 saves on 13 shots.

Already announced that Crawford was starting.

The Detroit way...Howard got eased in during his Career,Detroit usually does not over spend on Goaltending...and would not be surprised if Mrazek does good during the Playoffs that the Wings use Howard as Trade Bait in adding Draft Picks or Prospects...Howard can still play at the Elite level, has had injury issues...but there are teams in need of a solid Goaltender...like the Rebuilding Buffalo Sabres/San Jose Sharks...just to name a few...he's a valuable asset for Detroit.

He did, and that was a mistake

Hoping to see Scott tomorrow. I don't see how Laviolette can logically decide otherwise.

Edit: Quinnville

Not to make excuses, but Jimmy has been injured a lot over the past couple of years. When he's been healthy (as in earlier this year ) he's still as quick as a cat. If he gets moved, I'd love to see him land in Buffalo
