Northeastern for one, UNH in Dec. When we showed up and worked hard we could skate with anybody, BC, BU, Notre Dame, but couldn't (wouldn't) maintain the consistent effort.

Just about any team in D1 can skate with a good team from time to time. The consistency of the good teams to do it most nights is what makes them better teams.

Who the hell cares where the media and/or coaches pick them in October? Would it make anyone feel better if they were picked fourth? Or picked to win Hockey East?

I care when the pick turns out to be accurate like it was this year

Have there ever been 4 captains before? 4 voices and leaders?

I assume two will wear the C and two will wear the A. That has happened numerous times. Maine had tri-captains in 1990-91 and 1991-92 and again in 2012-13.

Re: Maine Hockey 2014-15 Volume 2: Red's Revenge

You mean the same one that picked BU sixth?

With the exception of Connecticut moving up to tie Maine the order was correct for the bottom 4. The top 8 teams were only separated by 7 points. With BU finishing ahead of the projected finish, the poll was very close to being correct.

Re: Maine Hockey 2014-15 Volume 2: Red's Revenge

I doubt they are picked as high as 8th, 10th is more like it. But the key to next season in D and goaltending, will they improve?
Now that's a BINGO: Goaltending & Defense, until its taken care of...10th/11th/12th is where they will settle in for next season...

I would add, execution, playing smart positional hockey, and putting in a full 60 minutes every game. I don't care if the record's the same, I want to see them hustling every minute, not making the glaring mistakes they kept making this season, and being where they're supposed to be in the system, and executing that properly.

They get better at that, and the record will improve as the talent does. they keep letting players camp out behind their D at the goal line, or be off at the bottom of the circle while the guy's got the puck behind the net, or continue to not put their shots on net, and no matter how the skill level improves, they still aren't going anywhere.

I agree in general; who cares about the speculation of a bunch of uninterested guys?

Thing is, next year's class looks like a sub-Timmy group, and Maine is a team desperately in need of a significant upgrade across the board.

I'm predicting that 2015/16 will be even worse than this year, and I see no relief in sight.

The coaches have a feeling for what Maine is bringing in next season plus they know what Maine had and lost. The coaches predictions are based on "whats on paper". That doesn't mean thats how the team is going to perform. We'll have to wait and see on that.

Re: Maine Hockey 2014-15 Volume 2: Red's Revenge

Question for all...Are these defenseman coming to Maine this fall? >> Cam Spicer - Robert Michel - Keith Muehlbauer - Stephen Cochrane - Sam Becker...?

Re: Maine Hockey 2014-15 Volume 2: Red's Revenge

So it looks like Spicer is on the outs......Heisenberg needs to update his list.
Wasn't it just last week that the BDNews Mahoney reported that Spicer was one of the incoming recruits for this fall? Then yesterday he has a article without Spicer mentioned in incoming defenseman after the article on Becker.
