I don't know if Shore is too slow or if he just looked too slow because he was never right this year; He looked great last year and less great this year. If he plays like he did last year he'll be fine in the Dallas org.

Re: Maine Hockey 2014-15 Volume 2: Red's Revenge

I personally don't think shore is ready. He's too slow. I will be surprised if he makes it to be a nhl regular. I'm thinking Tanner House
I wasn't following closely in 2011, but I think Tanner was older when he started at Maine then Devin is now.

I agree Devin may be too slow now for the NHL, but he has good hockey sense and vision. Skating is a skill that can be coached. Anyone who watches his press interviews can see that he is a very bright kid with way more poise than a 20 year old should have. My guess is he can learn what he needs to learn.

Let's hope that the Stars org. will provide him with effective skating coaching so he can improve and take advantage of the hockey sense.

House was as good a prospect in most departments, especially in his own end. Devin is a great kid and I'm rooting for him, but I don't see him getting any faster. I'll be surprised to see him in the NHL for more than a few games, at best.

I remember him, on many occasions, on break aways opening up leads and breaking away from opponents. He WAS fast last season.

Maybe if someone like Grant could work on his stride, or maybe even Laura Stamm. Can you imagine him in a 2 on 1 with Seguin, right now? eeeesh

And if you can't adjust, you certainly can't consider yourself an elite coach.
I am not a big fan of Red. I don't like his attitude and the way in which he conducts himself after games. He had to be told to get in line after games to shake hands with players. He didn't do it for most of last year. Tonight he shakes hands and never says a word to most of the players except for I think Santaguida. This is college not professional sports. There may be more important reasons why he has never had a head coaching position in over 20 years of being in hockey. Having said that, I still think the team will get better and be competitive, but I think it will be a few years before he wins any championships. He seems to have one mind set for coaching and makes no adjustment as to who the opponent is. It will be interesting to see how all of his recruits come together and will they be effective in all aspects of the game( special teams etc.).

I think he bulked up a little bit in the offseason and smashing his knee against the penalty box door couldn't have helped. I def agree was faster last year.

Jake Rutt has signed with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL. He already has a major for fighting :p

Re: Maine Hockey 2014-15 Volume 2: Red's Revenge

I think he's out of his mind. Name two players for Maine who would play above the third line on BC, BU, PC or UML.

He said top 6 not top 4. I don't see Maine making any noise next year. The goaltending will be better, Vesey and Lacroix look to be pretty good. The D is still suspect although their are many recruits coming in on D. Guess we'll have to see if they can help. Not sure what other teams lose, Gillies is gone, BU will lose several guys, BC probably will also. UML wont so they will be near the top.

Aside from being able to win on the road, this season was a big step backwards from last year for whatever the reasons. It's hard to be optimistic that things will be much better, but I don't see how they can be allowed to get any worse. I don't mean to be so hard on the team that their efforts weren't noticed or appreciated, but it just seemed like the lack of effort and heart at times overshadowed all of the good things they were able to accomplish in many of the games this season. It's a big positive ending the year by playing with a lot of heart against Vermont and putting in the effort they need to be successful even though they didn't get all the goals they needed to pull out a win in game 3. With all that has happened this year, it will make it that much easier for Maine to take a giant leap forward. I think they will surprise a lot of people next year.

Four years of college hockey and this is what Jake aspires to? I hope he has good health insurance (or a steel head).

They play hard for the last 3 games and you would think they have turned the corner...come on...this has been the recipe for many seasons...looking/talking at the end of the season...not buying it...they have a long road to hoe next season...maybe 12-14 wins tops...no higher then 8th in Hockey East if the Goaltending/Defensive end does not improve...where's the scoring going to come from???...with Shore gone they have lost one of there better passers...I hate to say it but on paper this could be a hard long season again...yes the game is played on the ice...but look over the returning roster and then add the incoming recruits...a lot of work to be done. I can't wait for next season, but I am fully prepared that it could also be ugly...I hope I am WRONG.

I'm convinced the goaltending is going to improve and with the incoming recruits I think the D could improve. You are right on the scoring.

Scoring is going to be a major major issue. Maine scored 2 or fewer goals in 19 games this year. The best player is gone. The best recruit, is he ever going to play hockey again?

Unless something major happens, I think Maine finishes 10th at best.

He wants to play professional hockey. I'm sure he aspires to play in the NHL but not everyone can do that. Should he just say, "Well, I'm not good enough for the NHL so I should just pack it in"?

If you were 23 and had the chance to travel to Boise and get paid to play hockey what would you do? This is actually a reply to um67.

I am guessing that you have never bothered reading the echl website and noticing where their alumni end up... .hundreds have played in the NHL... not everyone is Patrick Kane or Tyler Seguin... a lot of guys take time to hit their strides.
