Stay at a Hampton. One over by the Maine Mall. Best rooms, clean and great continental breakfast included. Can't beat it, only place this guy ever stays, even if it is a few bucks more. Theres one down off the end of Commercial Street too. But I'd guess that one is priced up a bit being closer to the Old Port.
Ok...Thanks to all.

Re: Maine Hockey 2014-15 Volume 2: Red's Revenge

you are leaving out one important difference between PC and Maine.
Maine did not have a single forward who was as fast as a single PC defender, never mind as fast as a PC forward. I t was not just the system.

And Acciari will do well in the pros, he is another Greg Moore.

Noel was a Tim Army recruit as he redshirted his freshman year and still has another year left if he comes back.

Hoping Bish can put Game 6 behind him and put the clamps down on the Rags in Game 7. Go Bolts! All of Black Bear Nation is rooting for you, Big Ben

Re: Maine Hockey 2014-15 Volume 2: Red's Revenge

I'll be amazed if Ben pulls out a game 7 in NY.
Agree. I totally want Bishop and TBL to win tomorrow night. It'd be happy days for Black Bear fans if he does.
Fact is, Henrik is 6-0 in Games 7 of Stanley Cup playoffs. Fact also is, Henrik is 10-0 in his last 10 Cup elimination games at MSG, allowing less than one goal per game in those 10 (according to yesterday's Washington Post article). I will be at MSG to see it all happen, one way or another.

If the Tampa D take care of their own end, Bish ought to be fine. The Bolts are the better team.

Agreed. The West champion would beat the Rags in 5. Tampa just needs to take care of business on the back end...play like they did in Game 5 and they win with ease.

Why would you be "amazed"..? Bish has given-up 14 goals in the series v. NY's 19.

Tampa's free-wheeling style is fun to watch, but it can result in too many odd-mans and a lot of traffic in their own end following neutral-zone turnovers. My guess is that that shore it up on their back end and use their speed to squeak out a close one. Even being biased, I'd have to bet on that outcome.

The last time Bish was pulled, he responded by shutting down the Habs.

Bish was shaky in Game 4 of this series but pitched a shutout in Game 5.

I'm going to pick Bish to put the thunderbolt down on the Rags tonight, and we'll see a typical New York choke job

Re: Maine Hockey 2014-15 Volume 2: Red's Revenge

With former UMaine Black Bear Ben Bishop making the Stanley Cup Finals...was the last Black Bear to make it there Dustin Penner (LA Kings)? And if so I lost track of him this season...did he hook on with anyone as a Free Agent?...his last team was the Washington Capitals.

Good call Fish. Ben was excellent. The Rangers had very little spark after early second period. TBL took over the play and the pace of the game. The # of SOG for each team was very low. TBL goals - one was a dribbler that snuck thru. The other a lightning fast snapper. Beautiful.

So...The Game 7 win streak is snapped. The King is not feeling very King-ly today, but he played a great game. Better than great. He was vintage King but his skaters couldn't do much of anything against a better Tampa team. It was a proud night for Maine Hockey. Go Lightning. Love to see Ben Bishop win The Cup.

Dustin Penner 2012. The only Black Bear to win a Stanley Cup (I think). He may be out of hockey now. Signed a 1 year deal with the Ducks worth $2 million for the 2013 - 2014 year. Traded to the Capitals last March (2014).

HockeyDB lists the Capitals as his last team. Nothing for 2014-15.

ADD Chicago Blackhawk Scott Darling in this years Stanley Cup Final...2 Black Bears/one will be on a Stanley Cup Winner.

Re: Maine Hockey 2014-15 Volume 2: Red's Revenge

can anyone explain to me why people say that they are "humbled" when they recieve this sort of award or recognition?

I can only think "inconceivable"... (that is, I don't think that word means what they think it means"

Humbled might have been if Corkum strutted around chirping that he was the Ducks all time leading goal scorer, and then Kariya came in and humbled him. (not that there was any strutting)
or, better yet if someone went around telling everyone that he was on the '93 championship team and a red headed giant outed him as "not really on the team"
