Yeah, its already close to Lake state so the program drowning would be similar instead of a great lake we have the atlantic ocean. Red has the weight of the world on his shoulders and like you I wonder if he can relate to the kids as head coach? I see folks say the guys he recruited at Yale love him so let him get his guys in and we'll see.We are 3 years removed from the Jimmy thing. It doesn't matter anymore. If's and buts and woulda shouldas don't change the present situation. Hopefully Red can get this team to improve next season. If he doesn't I think the program will be in big trouble for years to come, because I have a feeling all the big $ donors are going to jump ship. I'm sure some already have but if the program loses those guys as well as the majority of the fan base, then bye bye cash cow. This program is very close to the point of no return., as far a being relevant.
I have to disagree with you on the 12 seed statement. I think they are quite a ways away from being a tourney team. They are very close to being a 12 seed in Hockey East however!Maine isn't far from being a, say, #12 seed in the NCAA's right now... But it's the apparent quality of the incoming recruits that's making me feel pessimistic. Tim dropped the ball in that regard at some point in the mid-2000's, the program has never recovered, and I wouldn't bet the farm that it will any time soon. (I always scratch my head when some 18-YO recruit cites Maine's "tradition", when he was a baby last time Maine was really good.)
On a more positive note, Ben Hutton scored a goal on his pro debut last night right here in Utica (AHL). I predict he'll be a dependable grinder for at least a few years in the NHL. He possesses a fairly complete game already.
Rob Bellamy's sister was a member of the U.S. Woman's Team which won the World Cup in Malmo, Sweden, today, 7-5.
Rob Bellamy's sister played on the 2014 US Women's Olympic team (2-1 lead late in the game) that gagged up The Gold to Canada 3-2. Worse than any other performance of the 2014 games. No one cared who won Silver.Rob Bellamy's sister was a member of the U.S. Woman's Team which won the World Cup in Malmo, Sweden, today, 7-5.
Why would he not? Do you know something we don't?Jimmy Vesey said he's returning to Harvard for his senior year. I hope that our Vesey elects to do the same at Maine, we need him.
Plus there's the whole "Denver is a much better job" thing.
Nolan Vesey will be just a Sophomore next fall and a late draft pick by Toronto(6th Rd.)...he showed flashes of being a main cog in next season offense, with that said he's needs all the experience he can get @ Maine.Jimmy Vesey said he's returning to Harvard for his senior year. I hope that our Vesey elects to do the same at Maine, we need him.

They really don't have any go to guy in scoring this coming season,as they lost there two main threats in Shore & Hutton....maybe Vesey and a host of others will need to score as a group, but I don't see say a 15-16 goal scorer on this team for next season...plus there defense and goaltending will be suspect going into camp again...trying to be positive...but this team has the makings of 10th through 12th finish...could be another long season in store for Maine Hockey in 2015-16.It's certainly a debatable point. I based my comment on how they looked against BU, BC and PC. Maine seemed to be in the same ballpark, more or less. Just a sniper or two short of a load.

I have to agree. Red's recruits look bottom-feeder fare.
Recruiting woes were my main complaint under Tim, and it appears to be getting worse under Red.

At least Tim put some of his guys in the NHL. Will any of Red's recruits ever get that far?
