I wouldn't mind seeing Sully gets a game in tomorrow, maybe get him some confidence just in case and get Marty some rest

No Rutt tonight. Not even listed in the pre-game line charts. Still on probation after the UML hit?

I think Sully and Rutt play tonight, maybe some other guys who haven't seen much action

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

It seems very strange people aren't chomping at the bit to pay $50 to see AIC.

There were plenty of seats available without paying $50.00. Attendance was 3106, and student numbers have also been down for the last two games. Nice to see Kyle Williams get some playing time.

How much are the other tickets, $25 or something like that? I don't think there are a lot of people who are going to pay that much to watch what is basically a glorified scrimmage. There couldn't have been more than 2000 people last night. It's good to see they are still using the tickets 'sold' gimmick to boost attendance. They scan QR codes so they obviously know how many people actually turned up. The athletic department has made some positive strides the last couple years but they still have a long way to go as far as I'm concerned. Anyone know why they would play a home basketball game same night as a home hockey game? Doesn't seem like that makes much sense.

Larry says Lomberg's on a mission tonight, the best player on the ice. Which is good to hear, because I was thinking before the game that if there is one player(beside Rutt and his bad penalties) who has more to give than we've seen so far, it's been Lomberg. From the first to the fourth line over the course of the season so far.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

BDN has I assume the same story.

And Lomberg nets his second of the game.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Lomberg, Higgins and Anthoine were really good both nights, not just tonight. Sully played well, had one really great save in 2nd that turned game around. AIC pretty much sucks so can't take alot out of it but Maine kept the pressure on all night, especially after the Sully save

won't be hearing "Bentley" out of BU fans any more....

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

I thought Sullivan was shaky in the first period, not unusual considering how long it's been since his last game. Got better in each of the following periods. A rare event at Alfond Arena tonight, a penalty shot. I can't remember the last one at home. Connor Leen was the shooter but did not score.

Last penalty shot I remember was Drew Stafford for North Dakota scored on Jimmy in overtime back in 2004.

9 years a go. Thanks for the reminder. Very unusual to see that called, in recent times, officials are very reluctant to make that call.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Is there a practice at the Alford before heading to Florida?

No. Each player will fly directly to Florida.

In case you haven't noticed, WMEB's Whitneigh Kinne has joined the USCHO family. She will be writing recaps of all home games and other games WMEB broadcasts. Her first article was posted tonight.

Agree on your analysis. Though not sure a line with Higgins and Anthoine could be defined as the 4th line? Unless he was skating with Jon Swavely. Ryan can be an impact player, but need more nights like last night as aside from Shore's assist first line was silent and freshmen line and Higgins line picked it up. All good despite the competition as they continue to build confidence and play well at home!

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

We are seeing the consistency of effort and execution that has for so long been missing . Great to see

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Should have said third line. My mistake, although earlier I think he might have been down on the fourth. I think last night was just a case of AIC concentrating on shutting the Shore line down. Good to see that when teams try that, the other lines step up, but remains to be seen if that happens against better quality opponents.

You got your wish. However, would it have been a better idea to give Morris some ice-time? This kid needs to play some games with Marty and Sully graduating this year.
