Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

I thought ND looked like the better team after the 1st, not sure how their record in HE is so bad. Most of their shots were from above the dots but Marty gave up no rebounds until the end. I agree with Blacki that Maines 4th line stood out, they seemed to be able to control the puck in corners. Can Brown was all over the place. I wonder if the layoff hurt 1st line?. Needed a win, better get some production from top line or its going to be a long night

Agreed. Cam Brown stood out to me as well. I think that Notre Dame while talented lacks those BC finisher type of guys. They can skate and keep possession of the puck......but I wasn't exactly "worried" until Maine started to just stand around during the latter part of the 3rd period.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Maine get's lit up tonight. I can't see Marty giving the performance like last night.....not with his Sat history. As others have said, ND was the better team after the 1st and if not for 51 they would've lost by 3 or 4 goals. The Domers are gonna come out flying tonight esp after the "call" last night.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

I think Notre Dame scores more tonight but if Maine can get production from the first line or score a few more themselves maybe they can get out with a tie and three points. Its one of the games in hand on Notheastern so it would def. be nice to grab at least one

The call was correct, whistle blew before puck went in

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Kicked in from what others have said, I'll watch it on DVR tomorrow

Following the game, Hockey East director of officials, Dan Schacte through a pool reporter made this statement on the disallowed goal.

"The goal was disallowed under 83.6. There's 19 bullet points. The 15th bullet point -- 83.6 is disallowed goals -- the 15th bullet point is any action by the attacking team that propels the goaltender into the goal with puck. They ruled that Notre Dame's No. 11, with the puck underneath Ouellette, pushed Ouellette backwards over the line. (Referee) Kevin (Shea) did blow the whistle and then the puck squirted loose as Costello was pushing him over the line and Kevin then said on the puck in the net and pointed. Based on the replay showing Costello pushing Ouellette backwards over the goal line the play was disallowed."

When asked if he thought the officials got the call right, Schacte said, "I support them. I do support them."

Good to see Brown get that goal......he's been playing great this weekend.

I think that these guys are building a nice little rivalry.;) 2-1 Maine after 2.:)

Talk about embarrassing. I don't know how this team managed to almost blow the game last night but this was absolutely pathetic.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

What a disappointment that is. Just awful.. Marty was awesome, Cam Brown was awesome, the loss is disgusting

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

I've never seen a Maine team collapse at the end of games like Maine has collapsed this weekend. Just awful.

Chalk it up as a learning experience........this one is going to hurt. Maine may look back at this one when the final standings are determined.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

I've seen Maine collapse like this plenty of times....what really sucks is I thought those days were behind them. That game will keep them out of the NCAAs I bet
