Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

I think Maine's closer than people realize. I don't see them finishing 10th. They didn't finish 10th last year with a worse team and allegedly worse work ethic and worse system.

Don't think talent is the issue, long as the goaltending holds up they should be in the mix. I have them on the NCAA bubble, based on schedule they should have a better first half than second half, but if they get some momentum and confidence from the first half who knows how far they can carry it.

Think it comes down to Hockey East playoffs, I figure they'll be in a spot where winning a series and maybe a game in Boston gets them in.

I think playing at St L is going to be a heck of alot tougher than folks realize. If the boys can remember getting spanked by them last year then they might get some points this weekend. Marty will be key like always

The road to the NCAAs definitely goes through HE and Boston this season. Is anyone else psyched for tonight? I'll be disappointed if they lose, but I don't feel that negative aura anymore......win or lose.:)

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

I'm expecting a big improvement immediately in terms of Maine really getting after-it again (it's been a while since we've seen that), but only a modest up-tick in terms of W/L in '13/'14.

Red and his players have said all the right things, and the attitude at Maine appears to back where it used to be... But the biggest factor at this level is talent, and Maine is not exactly stacked in that regard right now.

There is just no substitute for having the horses at this level. None.

Red -or anyone else Maine might have hired- is going to need time to bring in his own recruits and develop them, and the reasonable window to see if he can do that is at least three years, and more likely four, IMO.

What kind of horses did Yale have?

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

Including the exhibition game, Maine has played 5 periods and hit 3 posts. Last season the team hit 36 posts. History repeats itself....

Not impressed with the way that this team is playing tonight. I think that there is still some purging to do..........

Oh but they need to show improvement now blah blah blah. Congratulations. Now do you get what I was saying earlier? Red needs to have time to get HIS players in.

This team, after watching tonight, lacks speed 1st and foremost, if it wasn't for Marty it would've been 6-1. And there is no offensive power.

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

Maine's discipline improves until committing 4 penalties in the 3rd period. Weninger appeared to be the difference in the game.

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

Penaltys in the 3rd period all but sealed Maine's fate tonight...penaltys didn't result in any St.L. goals but negated any consistant play on offense...oh well, one in the books. A work in progress.
