Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

I haven't seen anything written on why Sullivan wasn't dressed for Sunday's game. Any insight?

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

What's everyone's thoughts/predictions for this weekend? Looks like St.L has two or three of their top scorers back and seem to have a lot of jr's and sr's on the team. I see a split.

Maine has more depth and possible goaltending................Da Bears have to stay out of the box

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

There should be free HD video of this weekends games available at the St. Lawrence website.

Seems pretty quite on why Sullivan was not in Uniform Sunday vs Dalhousie...hopefully he makes the trip to St.Lawrence this weekend.

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

The Larries return a decent % of their scoring from last year, and a G with a .915 save %. They weren't very good at home in '12/'13, but they did hang 10 goals on Maine in Orono then...

I'd be delighted with 3 points in Canton, will hope for at-least a split, but wouldn't be nearly as shocked if Maine got swept versus the opposite situation occurring. (Still, I'm interested enough to make the trip/do an over-nighter for both games; probably wouldn't have taken the time if Tim was still behind the bench.)

As delighted as I am that the dreary Whitehead era is over a year early, I think some of us are getting a little ahead of ourselves if we expect a 180 from the program. It's a work-in-progress, and at its earliest stage.

Far as Larry goes I think the season ticket numbers come from the U and theyre releasing them now. Not much he could do there.

Far as what hes written recently about guys being tentative to being benched for taking penalties as some on here suspected, perhaps he was protecting players who told him off the record, not protecting TW

Right........but I would hope that this isn't a 5 year rebuild. I would hope and expect that in 2 years......the Whitehead Era will be nothing but a distant nightmare.

You have to give him at least 3 years. He needs to get his kids in there with his system. Much like when Timmay came in and had Shawn's kids and was successful, Red has the opposite to deal with.

He needs to show improvement in less than 3 years IMO. The cupboard is not bare.......there should be progressive improvement starting this season. TIMMAY's problems stemmed more from attitude, preparation, and game management. Are you saying it will take at least 3 seasons to implement those things? Cripes......if that's the case.......here we go again!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

The team left yesterday and stayed in Vermont last night. After practice today (I'm guessing at BFA) they will go on Canton.

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

I can confirm the team will practice at Bellows Falls Academy today.

I remember the weekend we were there playing a tournament (high school) and all of New England had a beautiful weekend, with just one green dot on the Doppler...right over St. Albans. Didn't stop snowing all weekend. :(

I wrote an article on five Hockey East players who will make jump in production this season. Ryan Lomberg is one of the five I predict will make a huge leap and become more of a household name. Before anyone jumps on me, I think Shore will also put up a lot more points, but he was more of a "name" last season throughout the conference.

And teams that weren't in top condition, weren't disciplined or smart on the ice, and didn't put out the effort they needed to.

The discipline thing is a work in progress, and may take some time, but judging from Red's comments after the Dalhousie game, those other problems have already been rectified. They may pop up again from time to time, but as a trait of the team, they're no longer an issue. The change starts first with a change in attitude, and looks like Red's already got that underway.

I agree with Diego! 3 Years??? We don't have 3 years. Let's see if Red can do for Maine what Patrick Roy has done for the Avalanche? I am not expecting a NCAA bid, but there is more talent here than 10th (which Jim Connely predicts). IF Ouellette plays as he did last year I think Maine can be 6th and no one has the patience for 3 years of rebuilding.
