Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

Awesome win,POed I wasn't there. Doubt that happens if Jackie was still coach but he isn't so...
Its one game so I'm not reading much into it, 2 pts in HE, win against a rival, and Maine shows some offense.

Doubt it happens if TIMMAY was still coach either.

After nine games last season, Maine was an outstanding 1-7-1, against a bit better competition, but still. Had a lot more veteran leadership on that team, also. Liking where this team is sitting right now.

Re: Maine Hockey '13-14: Are you Red-E?

Just wondering if anyone knows the answer to this: had Maine EVER scored a 3 on 5 goal before last night? Add to that, how many times has anyone ever had a 5 x 3 and a 3 x 5 goals in the same game?

pfft...what wud you know ???:D
feetball goes to 9-0 in conference, wins conference title

Amazing, what a season by them, hopefully hosting a playoff game as icing on the cake although new hampshire will try to have a say in that and would love to spoil maines perfect conference record. And to the other guy who has been getting his panties in a bunch about us talking football on here, GFO.

If what I've read is accurate, Maine is already a lock to host their first PS game, and will be another lock to host the second one as well, as long as they beat UNH on Saturday and subsequently survive their first PS game.

(Badly-constructed sentence, but you get my drift.)

I dont recall Maine ever putting a beating on BU like that. We were pretty evenly-matched in my day and even when they had the down years they usually got up for the Bears. That was epic. My only regret is that Jackie wasnt there to see it.

Betcha Jackie was watching at home, and chomping Rolaids by the handful... (All those odd-mans BU gave up must have churned his evil old guts.)

Marty was tremendous; he stopped everything he could see.

Maine scored two extremely soft goals, and five legit ones; there was major progress in that department.

Still love that Byron/Morgan/Brown line. It's the best that the Bears skate right now.

I'm sticking to my opinion that Maine isn't anywhere near an NCAA berth just yet, but I'm seeing a lot more potential realized than I ever thought I'd see this year, and that is encouraging.

Its my understanding and that could very well be wrong, but Maine would be a 1-8 seed with a win @ UNH with a chance @ being a 1-8 seed even with a lost to UNH...if they are seeded 1-8 they would have a Bye week and then on Dec.7th Host a Playoff Game @ Orono...from there and remember its just what I've heard there would be BIDS put out for the next round of games...so Maine could be a Higher Seed the following round and have to go on the road if there BID for a 2nd Playoff game was lower...as I stated above I could very well be wrong on my info.

You can see progress and with that there will be patience needed also, this will be a complete rebuild/retool season and expect anything from highs/lows to hot and cold streaks...but the Program imo is in good hands.

Higher seed always hosts. Bids only factor in for games between unseeded teams, as long as the higher seed met the minimum bid set by the NCAA. If Maine was, say, #4, and decided not to put in a minimum bid, they would go on the road to #5. Otherwise they host.

I will also note that if that happened, Maine should shut down its athletic department.

Somehow 10 games into a winning season in the week between epically destroying BU and our first matchup with BC the main topic on here remains sped league football

You're an epically silly person.

If you have something to say beyond simply repeating the headlines back to us, then by all means, say it. Otherwise . . .

Ordinarily, I wouldn't bother, but .... Maine is now ranked 4th in both of the major football championship division polls. And, while we're at it, the women's basketball team has won two in a row.

I keep reading about the rebuilding years from all of you people. Well I believe the young men who take the ice and play the game don't want to hear that BS. They play the games each year with one purpose, to win a NCAA title with the group they have; just as the pros compete for for the ultimate prize, the Stanley Cup. These young men shouldn't have to read this negativity. Lets give the product that's on the ice, trying their best, the support they deserve.

Anybody need a chuckle? Check out how BU garnered 4 USCHO poll votes at 4-6 and Maine got no love at 5-4, right after hammering the Terriers.
