Re: Maine Black Bears vs Miami Hawkeyes 12/29

Yeah, you're right guys. The annual phucked up weather related travel and guys coming in from all over the country/world to suit up against top notch competition hours after stepping off the plane has NOTHING to do with their struggles!

and this could not be addressed by a competent leader because?
how in God's green earth did Enrico Blasi arrange to have his team prepared for this tournament?

Did they shut the entire Midwest down for the past 4 days? Was Miami able to fly out on time and according to plan? How long has Miami been in Florida preparing?

I know that I'm in the minority........but I really dislike this tourney. Maine's showing down there almost always comes back to bite them in the arse come PWR time. :(

Its Timmay's fault, eh?

We're almost 3 months in. You're either ready to play or you're not.

An extra skate or two is helpful for your rhythm, but if you're for real, a travel delay is no excuse for getting outshot 15-2 out of the gate.

Maine's just showing more signs that they are overrated, uninspired, complacent, frauds.

This seeming loss puts them at 2-4-1 in their last 7 with their only points coming against UMass and PC; as well as 2-4-1 against the current top 20. If you wanted to talk: 'top 20 at the time of play' you can drop that to 2-5-2 (0-4-2 away from home)

And to beat the dead horse, 0-3-1 against the Bostons and NH. One being a major choke.

They're digging themselves quite the hole in terms of the fraud label.

If only St. Cloud lost....they could have played "battle of the pre-season overhyped frauds"!!!

i am sure I can go back a couple months and dig up the post where I said Miami and UNH would be the tests... not UND after they flew all over the planet and played short handed for 2 entire games because of the way college hockey is called at the beginning of the season.

Howitzah, you are correct when you analyze maines' record against decent teams. I would not call them frauds, they are what they are... an injured Nyquist and a million Monarchs.

YOu gotta give Tim credit though, Blasi has an extra year coaching experience as a head coach at a team that gets to frozen fours.

also, you gotta give Blasi the edge in "luck"... he had one of the best programs in the country handed to him, in Miami... how could anyone go wrong taking over that program?

That seems like a good possibility. Give them credit for taking care of most of the teams they should be taking care of (tie vs. Uconn and PC aside). But... imagine if that weekend vs. North Dakota was not as good as it turned out to be for Maine. We'd probably be talking about a Maine season that would be deep-sixed by the end of this weekend.

Yeah......much like the BU Terriers, who are 2-4-4 since November 6.

Re: Maine Black Bears vs Miami Hawkeyes 12/29

The difference though is that unlike Maine, I don't think many people had BU as a top 5 team this year.

Really?......with all of that talent???

I'm still trying to figure out what Hockey East coaches were smoking when picking Maine #2? With 2 freshmen in goal???......you gotta be kidding me!

Re: Maine Black Bears vs Miami Hawkeyes 12/29

BU has talent, but unlike Maine's team they are all freshmen and sophmores. They lost a lot to graduation, the pros and expulsion.

I agree with Maine being overrated. They were a mediocre team last year that beat an average BU team and took BC to OT in the HE tourney and now everyone thinks they're frozen four material. I don't think so...

He's been to more frozen fours lately
