No they don't this is the first time in recent memory, if not ever.

UMaine is now offering students from a bunch of northeastern states "in state" tuition. If you live in Connecticut and go to UMaine, you pay the price you would pay at UConn. That sent applications way up.

"Provost Jeffrey Hecker said the longest-serving admissions employee, who has been at UMaine for 30 years, can’t remember it happening. UMaine has wait-listed individual academic programs in the past."

Maine is increasing enrollment with this approach, but in a few departments there are not enough faculty to teach the course load.

All it says is best available which could be anywhere.

And its a package deal of 3 games only ...cant pick a single game ....not the greatest way to sell tickets imo. Might be worth a call to the ticket office and see whats shakin.

They're hiring new faculty and adjunct professors in some departments to handle the increased enrollment since they want to enroll about 350 more first year students next year. It takes a while to recruit professors though. It would be great if they can make gains on retention numbers and slowly increase enrollment over the next decade. Attracting more out of state students is critical is stabilizing the financial situation of the University.

What sort of shape are the dorms and academic buildings in? I think that will play a bigger part in whether kids stay or not. They need to make sure that the parking situation is sorted too.

Re: Maine Black Bears - Return to the Glory Years or On to Oblivion?

The BU home schedule has been released per Sean Pickett and it shows they are hosting Maine Friday 1/20. The corresponding game at Alfond will be either Saturday 1/21 or Sunday 1/22. That guarantees both BU and BC will be making an appearance. It also ensures that Maine will play at UConn sometime around the Fenway game on 1/14. UNH and Northeastern will play on 1/12 and it is possible Maine will follow suit and play a Thursday night game. There are still two games available to schedule, plus the exhibition vs New Brunswick.

Alfond: NU (2), UMA (2), BC, BU, UNH, ND, UML, RPI (2), Qpac (2) - 13
Road: UVM (2), MC (2), PC (2), BU, UNH, UML, UC, Miami (2), Colgate (2) - 14
Neutral: BC, ND, Brown, UNH, UC - 5

Point being that not only are you a hack (eveyone well aware of this) but also you fall into the category of an ooofer, which is not good
Hmm. I've never heard of an ooofer, so I can't argue your point. Are you sure you didn't just make that up?

An ooofer, by definition, is similar to the well known klutz. Difference being that a klutz when running into a sofa for example trips and falls whereas the ooofer simply stubs his big toe and howls "ooof" when it happens. Hence the name ooofer, capiche ya hack ??!!?

I understand that. But how in H-E-double-hockey-sticks did you know that when I recently stubbed my small toe on a couch, I simply howled, assumed it was broken (again), and merely buddy-taped it to the next one over???

Next time this happens, call me. I have a mobile cellular telephone device that even takes messages. Some say it also does typing or text I guess they call it and would you believe even talks to the World Wide Web !! I degress....on the stub toe thing I would have certainly recommended you supah glue it to your adjacent toe instead...lasts much longer.

ProTip: If you buy tickets for Portland, go through the UM ticket office and pay only a single $6 fee instead of the criminal "facility charge" and "service fee" pricing that Ticketmaster tacks on to every ticket they sell.

Thank you.

Please, people, do not enable the disgusting racket that is TicketBastard. You will never get "the best available seat" online. Those seats are set-aside for walk-ups. And all the BS "fees"..?

90% of the time you can call the box office in question, pick your seats, and either have them mailed to you or pick them up at the Will Call window, thus circumventing TB entirely.

Re: Maine Black Bears - Return to the Glory Years or On to Oblivion?

Connecticut has released the home slate and Maine isn't on it, meaning the Fenway game is their home game. UConn will be playing at Alfond sometime this season, most likely 1/12 (Thursday) before the Saturday game in Boston.

Does UConn have a second rink? The way I read it that is the schedule for games at XL center.

That is their home arena now. They have a rink on campus but have only played exhibitions there for a couple years. I can't imagine them trying to host a Hockey East game at Freitas.
