I'll take the limb, Maine 2 to 1. We get a good game from goalie. Robbins and Gibson play well. Hopefully a big crowd.

Maine can't compete with BU, thats for sure. Maybe with Rob in net but certainly not with Matty and his technicolor 5 hole. Not all his fault but he isn't keeping you in many games. BU is far better, faster, stronger etc etc. Doesn't help when you play 4 d and 3 lines. Not sure how Riley plays at all, other than there is no one else.

How did your program only manage one (1) point in four games vs. UNH last month?
We suck.
Never thought I'd live long enough to see both UMaine and UNH at the bottom of the HE standings.
This could be a cold hard reality by this time tomorrow evening ...

The defensive plays in front of the net tonight were awful and only in your nightmares you'd think/see this happening...I mean 25 games in and this garbage continues in the defensive end play.

BU went thru the d with ease. Pretty much whenever it wanted to. They cycled puck like maine wasn't on the ice at times. Much stronger, better position and more skills.
Yeah, talent difference between these two teams is just unbelievable. And they've got four first rounders coming in next year
. The stark reality is you just cannot compete night in and night out against that. Extreme disadvantage. The state schools have little hope going forward

You guys have a line that can score, Maine has very little talent so any errors are hard to make up for. BU might as well have played a D3 team last nightHow did your program only manage one (1) point in four games vs. UNH last month?

All very true. You can also add quick to the puck and excellent positional play. Bu was always in front of the net defensively. Gendron could change the way he has his team playing defensively to give him his team a better chance at success (in my opinion). Probably would still lose, but the score might be closer.

Sure they could just play batten down the hatches, pack it in boring hockey but who the hell wants that. It's all about talent at this point, Maine worked as hard as anyone could hope for but until they get blue chippahs coming in ( which ain't happening unless Walshy rises from the dead) be happy with relative mediocrity, because that is the new reality. The talent difference is just jaw dropping
Three kids who were drafted coming in next year, two by arguably the best organization in the league. Things will get better but it is going to take time.

That's all well and good that it takes time, but for the life of me what do you see that there's a light at the end of this tunnel...this team has all the makings of a bottom tier in Hockey East play...and not trying to shoot down you thoughts as this forum is interesting to read about all people's thoughts/feelings and passion for this train wreck program. But this group/staff has not moved forward to the degree that you can say its on the right track(and this is just imo,wrong or right

Pearson and Holway getting drafted by the Wings tells me two things...the first that the coaching staff has a decent eye for talent if they are on the same page as the Wings and the second is that the Wings organization trusts the coaching staff in developing that talent. Have you seen Ben Hutton play this year? He looked as good as any of the dmen on the ice the other night against the Bruins. You can guarantee the staff are selling his success and it is a big feather in their cap.
I feel like i've posted it a 100 times, as have others, but i'll post it once more. The issue when Timmy was here was not coaching. He did a wonderful job at that as evidenced by Maine's success his first half dozen years. The issue with him was bringing in talent. You can't hit on only 50% of kids and be successful. Its completely unfair to judge Red on the kids that have been brought in so far because most of the good kids in those classes were already committed when he took over. This is a indisputable fact that can easily be verified by looking at Heisenberg's list. He's got some very good kids lined up in the next few years and the freaking out crowd needs to calm down.

My question is how to compete against the teams that are able to bring in a handful of first and second round picks. To me it was fairly depressing watching the game last night with the effort Maine put out knowing no matter how hard these guys skate they can't hope to be successful except for maybe a fluke against such overly talented teams. It's like trying to compete with one arm tied behind your back
I think the key is getting guys who will be good college players and stay three or four years. The kid who just left BU was a second round pick and he didn't do much in a year and a half. You lose continuity when a bunch of guys come and go every year too.

Unless you've got such an abundance of talent to start with that losing one or two Chiapas ain't that big of a deal. I remember way back with some of our more talented teams when someone got hurt it didn't make any difference ... the machine just kept rolling.... its momentum.... when you have it, its hard to reverse it. Don't get me wrong, I think these kids are playing hard, for the most part playing smart (with some mistakes), but they just don't have what it takes to get where we all want them to be. Just don't have the tools.... no kids that can flat out fly, no real snipers ....they can play a tough physical game but that won't buy you much more than a cup of Joe in the long run.... you need talent and you need depth of talent.
