Re: Maine Black Bears - Return to the Glory Years or On to Oblivion?

Money, support, umaine is dying just like the rest of maine north of brunswick

Which is why we need to bring jobs back to this country, or your statement will apply to much more than just Maine.

Please. They can have him and lets get this thing jump started instead if another 12-20 months of purgatory.

Red is going nowhere, You think UMass is going to buy out his contract? I doubt it.

Re: Maine Black Bears - Return to the Glory Years or On to Oblivion?

UMass is going after a Coach with prior Head Coaching experience in Div.1 Hockey...maybe Mike Eaves now that he has been fired by Wisconsin could be the high profile type that UMass may go after...and maybe a outside chance they look at Tim Whitehead(maybe?). Gendron will be at Maine till his deal is done or something like what happen to Whitehead, 2 years and no progress and bought out...but that's too far down the line to think or predict. One thing for sure both UMass & Maine are in tough times.

Re: Maine Black Bears - Return to the Glory Years or On to Oblivion?

Good win for NU, even better Lowell lost

Re: Maine Black Bears - Return to the Glory Years or On to Oblivion?

UMass has an advantage though - Bramford, the new AD, has identified and committed improvement to hockey. We will see see how it goes.
Your right on that point...until Maine gets people in charge in the Athletic department then we will be in the same old/same old...just look @ the difference @ UML/ @ Providence and to some degree @ Merrimack...changes there with people that are concern about the sport of hockey have changed the direction @ all three schools mentioned above.

How do you know the AD at Maine isn't concerned about hockey, or cares about the program? This one-note schtick is wearing thin.

First of all I am NOT saying he does NOT CARE..OK..but he has NO EXPERIENCE in College Hockey and MY SUGGESTION is he get advice/help in moving forward for this program..OK. Being open to advice and what goes on for the program is important..OK.

It's fine to have your own opinion but I agree with Rufus, your monotone beetching about everything Maine hockey is wearing thin

Looks like Jimmy will be battling it out again against BU. Just like old times.

And how do you know he's not been getting advice/help when it comes to hockey? Really, I wouldn't figure recruiting/establishing a winning program in hockey would be all that much different from doing it in football, basketball, or any other sport. They all have their idiosynchracies unique to their sport, but the basic methods should apply to all. Hire good coaches who can teach the game and recruit, back them with money and support, sell the product to the public.

Really, how is his "NO EXPERIENCE in college hockey" affecting what he's been doing with the program? You seem to think it is, please explain how. And who does he turn to for this "advice"? You don't think he's talking to Red? Who else?

I'll move on and away from this subject, but still many aspects that need to be changed @ the Hockey Program to move forward, but whatever...moving on....................

Instead of just repeating this vague" many things need to change", why don't you go about explaining to us what you think needs to be changed, and then how you'd go about changing it?
