They gave it there best shot but when you aren't a good team this is what happens, you lose :) I figured they would keep it close and I figure tonight they get blown out, its the MO for the season. FORE, Penoby is open anyway

Re: Maine Black Bears - Return to the Glory Years or On to Oblivion?

Yes he did. Who would have thought he'd end up being the best NHL goalie Maine would produce? Ironically he was Grant's last goalie at Maine.
You think that Bishop is the BEST goalie Maine produced in the NHL? I wouldn't forget Jimmy Howard with the Wings...not playing much now with Detroit but he's done pretty well for himself in the NHL and imo was the best Maine has had and would rank as one of College Hockey's Best netminders. He was well worth the cost to get in and watch tend net for Maine.

Up & Down...good and bad...been the same RECIPE all season long...a-lot of work for next season, goaltending is and will be a questionmark in that no one has taken the #1 job and ran with it, scoring...just that along could be 10 sentences...defense/awful and/and etc...and the recruiting in the next 2-3 years has to produce or RG will have his only Head Coaching gig end and not on a pretty note.

Without a doubt Howard was the better college and one of the best I ever saw as well. But Bishop is the better NHL goalie which is surprising.

Meh. Jimmy Howard 350 starts, 185 wins, 915 save percentage 2.44 GAA for one organization. Plus an Olympics.

Bishop 208 games, 122 wins, 922 and 2.30 for 3 organizations. If he has a stretch like Jimmys had this year the numbers will be wash, I wouldnt say Bish is the better NHL goalie just yet

Howard hasn't had a save percentage over .910 since 12-13 and he's now a backup. Whereas Bishop is a starter and an all star this year as well. So at this point it would be very hard to say Howard is a better goalie than Bishop.

For people who don't want to pay $10 for the stream, one of the Doghouse people is Periscoping the game. Check the Doghouse Twitter @NUDoghouse or his personal Twitter @barbitosfritos for it. Good luck tonight. Go NU :)

Thanks for the heads-up, Husky, but I have to catch up on my knitting tonight...

Seriously, I really like this NU team though, and I hope they can find a way to garner an NCAA berth. I can see them winning on any given night against any given team.

Yes, I like them also. NU, please win and put Maine out of their misery.

Thankfully a clean kill tonight. Time to put this most miserable of '15-'16 seasons to bed. Here's to next year !

Yup. And I'll go a step further, even at the risk of exposing myself as a heretic...

It just started just this year, during the PC weekend. It occurred to me while watching that series that there was no point whatsoever to root for Maine, because there was no way in Hell that the Bears were going anywhere. So, I think to myself, why not hope for a Providence win? I was all for the Friars in the tournament last year, and I want as many HEA teams in the NCAAs as possible again this season.

(It gets worse. I'll go so far as to admit that I didn't even mind BU sweeping Maine earlier, after it became clear that my Bears were just taking up space... Only the ND losses stuck in my craw, but ND is just an HEA rent-a-team anyway.)

As I guy who's bled Maine blue for eons now, the above is a hard thing to confess. But this program has wrung me out. I'd be sad, if I still cared enough to be sad.

I thought the game was over in the first after Northeastern jumped out to the early 3 goal lead. This team is showing it does have heart coming back like they have. That would be something if we have a different outcome tonight....

The team has heart. They do their best. They just aren't any good.
