I agree with you that Maine should schedule more variety in their opponents, but every year that passes I find it less likely. I get the sense that Maine is just fine scheduling Quinnipiac plus a decorative cupcake arrangement.Michigan State @ UNH
St. Cloud @ BC
Denver @ BU
Minnesota State @ Merrimack
St. Cloud @ Vermont
Ohio State @ Sacred Heart
Ohio State @ RPI
Is it really that hard for teams to fly into BIA and travel 10 minutes up I-95 to play at one of the best barns in college hockey? Barr should be rotating 2 Western teams every season....1 series at home & 1 on the road.
I wonder how much Merrimack charges for Western opponents? That place only seats like 2.5K for hockey.Unfortunately, I don't foresee regular western matchups without increasing the ticket prices for those games.
As far as I can tell the wait a year stuff is all speculationIf that is the case Barr's gotta own that one. Not sure how anyone can objectively look at Voronin on tape and see his underlying numbers and think you can risk pushing him a year without him going to another program. With how freely players can move around these days you can't really use that strategy with talented players anymore.
Unfortunately, I don't foresee regular western matchups without increasing the ticket prices for those games.
Merrimack isn't supported by the taxpayers.I wonder how much Merrimack charges for Western opponents? That place only seats like 2.5K for hockey.
Spoken like Gianni Infantino. If the market will bear it, fine!
Huh? Taxpayers buy tickets with State funds?Merrimack isn't supported by the taxpayers.
Athletics programs at public schools are supported by taxpayers.Huh? Taxpayers buy tickets with State funds?
WTF are you talking about?Athletics programs at public schools are supported by taxpayers.
And yes, tickets are purchased with state funds. How much do you think the school could get if it told the students to pound sand and open up the balcony to the public?
Yes, the taxpayers are subsidizing tickets. Those seats in the balcony aren't free. That's a cost eaten by the university. When Alfond hosts a tournament game the school shells out the money to buy the students tickets. The university has to justify expenses. Do you remember when Notre Dame was added to the conference and suddenly there was a giant hole in the budget that Tim had to fill?WTF are you talking about?
We are talking about scheduling Western teams....and someone said that they might have to charge premium ticket prices. I mentioned that Merrimack is scheduling a Western opponent in their rink that seats half the amount of fans that Alfond does. You then. go on some tangent about Maine taxpayers funding hockey ticket purchases. Seriously dude?
Spoken like Gianni Infantino.
Also, the football team flies to multiple conference games. Baseball and softball are flying south multiple times per year. If UMaine can't afford a flight west once every two years for its only money making program, we should shut down the athletic department.
