Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

Any hope that Diamond could put up big numbers without Abbott and Flynn is pretty much already gone. This team has ok goaltending and D but no offense whatsoever.

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

I have long time fans telling me I just can't get excited about going to games any more. Its a shame. My section had 1 or 2 groups of folks I recognized, other than that all new folks for the Q game. Maybe the old timers will show up for St L.

I don't really give a crap about going anymore. I still get my season tickets, _hoping_ that someday they turn it around. For the past 3 seasons, I've sold half of my tickets to a coworker. If they don't get rid of Timmay when his current contract is up I don't think I will continue to buy tickets. I was one of the original "Fire Timmay" posters on here; it's hard to believe I've held on this long but I keep wanting to believe they will turn it around.

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

Yeah, it seems like some of the old-time posters don't post very much either. Someone mentioned Whitehead's contract and I hope whatever Abbott decides to do he does the day after Maine's season ends this year. I would say the time is right to go out and get Jimmy as the next coach. He has done pretty well and I think he would bring a lot of people back to the program. If Abbott decides he wants to keep Timmy then he should give Timmy a three year extension. The last thing on earth I want to see happen is him enter the last year of his contract, no way anything good can come from that.

There was a story in the paper about Maine's last president being fired in his new job and I think it tells a lot about why the school/athletic department have had a rough go of it the last eight or so years. It all starts at the top and hopefully the new guy is a lot better than Kennedy was.
Good Grief...give him a 3yr extension after this season,NO WAY...if he(TW)does not like it he can Resign,"IF" they don't buy-out of fire him....make him squirm for his contract and NEVER/EVER give him 3 yrs unless there's a opt-out clause for the University...I know alot of people are waiting to see what happens after this season,if he's Extented you'll see more Season Ticket Holders drop out and you'll see LESS Donor Money to the Hockey Program....this is JUST imo,he needs to leave after this season no matter what....Program needs a influx of New Blood/Ideas....stalled to be forever .500....not good.

I'm in the same boat. I can't or don't want to justify spending the money and time. I still support the program and watch the TV games but that's about it these days. I will say there is some talent with these Freshmen. Properly developed they could............never mind. :(

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

True enough but last years team had the talent on offense to do that. Our P.P. did look especially inept last night. I suppose ND is a very good team so thats part of the reason but still, we had some opportunities to score. We just can't find the back of the net.
ND didn't look that good to me, they were bigger and faster but didn't look like much Offense was on that team.

Looked like atypical Jeff Jackson team, boring

Ok. Not a big fan of Tim Ghandi, but it is very early. PP was atrocious, but it is largely all new folks on it...it does take a bit of time to get the right patterns and rotations . Hutton, shore, even Pryor are new....so this will take time. D killed 5 pens., and allowed 1 goal, with Sully looking like a top flight D1 guy.. Joey D scores on that play, maybe a different game. Of course he also took a dumb penalty....and can anyone explain why you would take Rutt out against a massive team and put Caspar the friendly ghost Norman in... Talk about bug and the windshield.....Anthoine, Beattie and Shemansky have to step up........

Its not about whether Tim likes it or not, I could care less about his feelings. Its more about recruits and whether guys on the team bail. I think that overall Tim has done a pretty good job. Maine has been the second most successful program in hockey east and probably one of the top five in the country since he took over, thats a fact. It's pretty obvious now though that a lot of people are discontent with the program and even though we've recovered from the trainwreck teams four or five years ago we're not quite where we want to be. The issue I always had with getting rid of him awhile ago was who would replace him. Its pretty obvious to me, as it should be to the administration and everyone else, that Jim Montgomery is going to be Maine's next head coach and should be a very good one. At a minimum he would bring back a lot of support to the program. To go another year or two in some kind of holding pattern seems awful ridiculous to me. I just hope Abbott can get it done quickly once Maine's season is over this year.

While everyone is whining about Diamond, what about these 3 guys? Has Anthoine got a Grade A shot off yet? Beattie looks lost and Shemansky is blown off the puck too easily but he has gotten into the offense unlike the other 2

Beattie has ben a dissappointment/should be his year but he seems to think he has a "C" on sweater/complains after every play, needs to shoot more and bury some also...he's out for todays game,Slight Concussion last night...Shemansky will be what it is,sometimes good/sometimes bad, sometimes invisable...Hopefully Anthoine comes around,he's needed in a big way...front of the net and crashing the net.

Within 2 years Montgomery will behind a Div.1 Bench, and it it may very well NOT be at Maine.

Rutt should be in the Lineup full time...."BUT"....it's a TW thing.

Well I think ND looked a bit rusty but they are a good team and were picked to win their division for a reason. I think alot of teams look sloppy this time of year. It's so frustrating that now that we have what we've lacked for 5 years(a goaltender), we don't have scoring, at least not yet. Tonight is as close to a must win as you can get this time of year.

I completely agree about tonight. I'll be disappointed if we don't put up at least four or five, even with all the guys hurt. St Lawrence won at WMU last night so next weekend certainly won't be a walk in the park, need to get some wins on the board.

1-0 Army, he has Norman playing center between Anthoine and Shemansky W TF

Right and they missed about 3-4 open nets
So even though silly made many good and a few great saves, he also should have been lit up and just got lucky
