Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

Abbott cares more about football and basketball..............you'd think that he'd be concerned about the precipitous fall of revenue though. Depending on football and hoops for revenue gains is like depending on welfare spending to bale out Maine's economy.
His FEATHER in his Cap is he CANNED @ 21-91 Coach(how is it that Larry M says in Broadcast....a NO BRAINER..?) Time will tell if he can do what many await for...?

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

Bad passes, getting out worked along the boards, having a sub 900 goalie after Maine had such a great run of goalies, pathetic coaching and nothing is done about it. I mean the crowd was awful to begin game except for student section. It's sad to see the once proud program falling apart. Very sad.

I can't believe that the students are sticking around......kudos to them.........they deserve a raise.

Your Statement above is right on. +1,and thats a plus to you compared to the on ice product.

As long as Maine is still sending players to the pros........the Hockey Pucks will stick around to try and find themselves a meal ticket........err, I mean a man. As long as the Hockey Pucks are around and Club Whitehead is still in operation, Maine will continue to attract recruits that have the following achievement list (in order):

1. Partying
2. Hockey Pucks
3. King Sh*t syndrome
4. Playing hockey
5. Commitment to winning

To be honest, while TW isn't a great in game coach, I think the much, much bigger problem is talent. The drop in talent level since SW passed is off the charts and I just can't see how Maine really turns that around.

Whitehead has been around for a decade + now........word gets around.

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

The talent isn't here, but it is the coach's responsibility to bring in talent. The other thing is guys like Hegarty and Pryor would have been better coached and would have lived up to expectations possibly with Shawn Walsh and Grant still here.

Flynn, Abbott, O'Neill, Mangene, Diamond, Shore, Hutton, Merchant, Anthoine, Beattie...

No one else on last year and this years team would have been worthy of being on a Walsh team.

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

I don't mean to rub it in or anything, but you guys are starting to fall apart a little bit, huh? What is going on?

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

Starting?!?!
Look back in the Maine threads... the wheels fell off years ago. The wagon is now halfway off the cliff. ;)

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

Halfway?

The wagon is in tiny shards at the bottom. I'm glad my tax dollars aren't paying for this any more.

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

I'll be watching football and hockey on WABI today (yikes!).........that's at least $50 lost by the athletic dept. because of horrible products and coaching. Multiply that $50 times hundreds that feel the same way I do. Hope that WABI is giving the athletic dept. LOTS of $$$$!

Did you see Pryor his frosh year? He was absolute rubbish and you would have a hard time convincing me any coach could have got much out of him. I would add Parker, Higgins, Leen, and Lomberg to your list, they're good players.

Do people honestly think every player Shawn had was an angel who was extremely hard working? Give me a break.

I'm convinced better days are around the corner, there is a lot of talent in the soph. and frosh classes and all the guys in next year's class have gotten off to flying starts in their respective seasons. Hopefully Jimmy comes in straightaway after the season is done and we can start to move forward.

Reading the thread might give you a clue or maybe not, Notre Dame academic standards aren't what they used to be I guess

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

Gave up season tickets after 28 years. With what they extract for donor seats, plus the cost of tickets, each night for two seats cost $90. Waited too long to see at least $30 worth of good hockey on the ice. Too bad ... watching an elite program swirl down the drain!

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

As I posted earlier, gave up season tickets when the donor price and ticket price combined cost us $90 a game for two seats. When was the last time any of you saw $30 worth of good hockey being played? $90 plus the cost of a roll of Rolaids is just too much and the empty seats in Alfond are proof positive that some serious changes need to be made -- and SOON!
