Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

Another EZAC team, another loss. ST L was picked 6th in the EZAC and comes into Orono and crushes Maine, WT F. We all knew Offense was going to be bad early but this bad? Mentally these losses are going to be tough to overcome, the more they come the harder its going to be. If they don't compete tonight the season is in real trouble and whoever predicted 9th place is going to be spot on.

Pretty pathetic to lose 5-0 at home to St Lawrence. As far as players drinking can you blame them? I'd drink as well with Whitehead as the coach.

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

The funny thing is that Whitehead just takes this crap matter of factly, like ..oh well, we were expecting this anyway....just give me more time and I can fix this too because afterall I am Tim Whitehead, Hockey God. Man I get sick or watching his post losing game interviews.

EZAC > Hokey Least ;)
Certainly greater than Maine, without question.

I wonder how many times Walshy lost to an EZAC team, I'll bet after 87 you could count on a couple of fingers how many losses he had, maybe a few in the middle 90s during the suspension or forfeitures . They used to be gimme games

0-3 at home against ECAC teams and more than likely 0-4 after tonight. I don't think Maine has been that poor against ECAC teams since they left the ECAC it's going to be a long year.

Pryor is so bad. Hutton was only good defenseman out there, but then again he was out drinking night before game. Program is out of control. Fire Whitehead.

I thought you weren't gonna mention any names???

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

Ya know, TW's approval-rating got a bump last year when the talent/maturity level on Maine was as perfect a storm as we've seen come out of Orono since the program became "his"... The Bears actually earned an NCAA bid (and, tellingly, a quick exit.) True to form, it's looking very much as though this team is heading south of the Mendoza line yet again.

I tire of being critical; in fact, I almost care too little to complain anymore... But it's clear that a change is long overdue. Tim just can't build on the small successes he (very) occasionally enjoys.

It's gonna get to the point where Scotty Bowman couldn't turn this program around, if Abbott keeps waiting for what is clearly not in the cards for this program right now.

Abbott cares more about football and basketball..............you'd think that he'd be concerned about the precipitous fall of revenue though. Depending on football and hoops for revenue gains is like depending on welfare spending to bale out Maine's economy.

Yes. Beyond that I won't speculate, but lots of underage kids get into bars all across the country one way or another. Also, as bad as they've been lately, the players are still a big deal around campus.

There will always be Hockey Pucks........it's the oldest profession.

You know what JD. I wasn't, but I've gotten so frustrated over the lack of commitment by even some of the better players in recent years. Plus if you are on a scholarship paid for and funded by state tax payers, don't be out in public at a bar where people can see you, then I don't have any sympathy.

Amen.

Did you see Larry there too?

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

Bad passes, getting out worked along the boards, having a sub 900 goalie after Maine had such a great run of goalies, pathetic coaching and nothing is done about it. I mean the crowd was awful to begin game except for student section. It's sad to see the once proud program falling apart. Very sad.

From what I could see and hear in the crowd of young people that Status of "BIG DEAL" will be eroding soon....was not born Old,but playing for your University/State/Family/Friends and Fans should bring some PRIDE with that "NAME" across the Chest(MAINE)....sad ending to this Program...well ending if they keep TW in the fold...time for a CHANGE,and the sooner the better....I pity the players thinking they are the reason(being NOW @ the present time)that we the Fans show up for them...you have to EARN respect....AND I for one am losing it....I didn't think I could say that before...STINKS.

Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??

Maine is 1-3 and their only win is against a service academy. I have great respect for the hard work and dedication to our country that those young men show, but UMaine hockey has fallen fast and far when they barely squeak out a win against Army.
