Maine 2012-2013 Fade to Black

Re: Maine 2012-2013 Fade to Black

They get killed by PC, might give Lowell a battle

I don't think they get killed by anyone if they play like they did this weekend. Granted UNH isn't that good right now, Maine ain't your daddys 8 seed either.

Re: Maine 2012-2013 Fade to Black

And oh so close to being on the outside looking in, as UMass beats Merrimack tonight. A bit of luck in OT last night, and that's it.

Re: Maine 2012-2013 Fade to Black

Next weekend looks pretty nice. Friday at 7PM in Lowell, Saturday at 1PM Bruins v Capitals, back to Lowell for 7PM vs Lowell. Going to be a fun weekend!

Edit: According to the ticket website, UML-Maine will be Thursday-Friday with a potential game 3 on Sunday.

5 points separating 1st place from 7th, and Providence goes from playing for the regular season title to finishing in fifth just by losing.

Re: Maine 2012-2013 Fade to Black

Congrats to the boys for sending UHN on the road next weekend. They finished 5th. Prov 4th.

edit: 1st and 6th place.

How do the tiebreakers place BU, UHN, and Providence - all bunched at 32 points?

It goes head 2 head records 1st, with no clear winner it goes to conf wins. BU wins that one. So UNH and Prov go back to the head 2 head with Prov winning the season series thus staying home.

Re: Maine 2012-2013 Fade to Black

Is the H2H singular, or in the aggregate amongst those three teams? Same difference:
3) BU 3-2-1
4) Prov. 2-2-2
5) UHN 2-3-1

I think it's singular bcause UHN wins h2h vs BU, BU wins vs Prov and Prov wins vs UHN thus no clear winner for the 1st tie breaker.

Re: Maine 2012-2013 Fade to Black

Personally, I want the program to turn around for selfish reasons. I miss taking my son to games. I miss planning a trip to Boston for the HE tourny. I've been going to games with my son since he was 7. He's almost 15 now. It's something we share and are passionate about..together. He's never been to a regional. He's never had the enjoyment of seeing Maine in a NC game. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. It just sucks that I am being deprived of sharing these awesome experiences with him. Don't get me wrong we still do plenty of stuff together. But I ingrained Maine hockey into him and it's always been "our" thing. And to his credit he get's why I don't want to spend the money to travel around New England to go to games.I just hope in the next couple years it turns around and we can share some of these experiences together before he's a grown man...and I'm an old man.

Maine was in the Hockey East final last season. Was also in the final in 2010. Maine was in Worcester for an NCAA regional last year. Guess you were busy?

Tell you what, I have extra tickets in the club section for the Friday night's games. I'll spot you and your son a pair so you can see the semi-final games...who knows, Maine may even be there again. EMail me and we can make arrangements.

BTW, if you are booking hotels in Lowell, might want to hurry. I just had the price jump $10/night. Got a room in Tewksbury to keep the price low. The hotel at UML is already booked.

Front row, center ice both nights. Not shabby.

Not aggregate...the first round of tiebreakers allows one team to emerge (BU). Then they go back and REPEAT the entire process with the two remaining teams...so head to head goes to Providence (2-0-1).

Nice gesture. Go Black Bears!

Re: Maine 2012-2013 Fade to Black

Maine will give Lowell fits. They don't scare me. We can win this series.

Maine vs Boston College in the early game at the Garden, followed by Providence vs Boston University.

Thank you for the generous offer. Unfortunately, not figuring Maine would even have a shot at the Garden earlier, we have plans for that Friday. If they make the finals we'll go down Sat. We actually were at the Garden for both of those weekends (that's why my motto this year is anyone but BC). Couldn't make it to the regional. We would go to Lowell as that's a short ride from Portland but I'll be on the golf course in sunny Fla next weekend. Thanks again tho for the offer.

Oh c'mon! Wouldn't you rather be in beautiful Lowell, MA than drab old Florida? :p
