MacNaughton cup champions vs. the team from the Cleveland Steamer World Arena

Re: MacNaughton cup champions vs. the team from the Cleveland Steamer World Arena

Yeah, I think I want a copy of that team photo with no one smiling in it. ;) :D

I suppose you do. ;)

I'd want something similar of the Gophers, so know how you feel. Don't hate either of your teams though. Nice win for you guys tonight. Enjoy it! :)

Will do. We haven't had much to cheer about lately. Hopefully we can finish off the sweep tomorrow night. :)

I would say this series has been pretty even this year.

DU 2 CC 1
DU 4 CC 4
DU 1 CC 2

Your right it was a great night. How did it feel to celebrate that WCHA regular season championship on your home ice after a loss to your hated rival? :D

Knowing full well CC would come out guns a blazin, I went into the weekend expecting a split. After winning ten straight a lose is most likely timely medicine for a team posed to make a run at the national title. Winning that nice piece of hardware and presenting it after a lose was of course, anticlimactic. But what the hell does CC know about winning hardware?

CC knows plenty about winning THAT piece of hardware, so your statement is pretty stupid in that sense.

Great game, very entertaining. Both goaltenders put on an absolute clinic, IMO. I have seen very few games with the kind of rebound control that both Howe and Cheverie had tonight. Overall, DU has more skill, but CC still has speed, which was really important tonight against Denver's top line.

Tig looks like you'll mostly likely draw UND at the Ralph net weekend so your illustrious hardware gathering campaign will have to be put on hold one more season (again),

Re: MacNaughton cup champions vs. the team from the Cleveland Steamer World Arena

CC was very impressive in the methodical, controlled road hockey they played last night, and I also always see them trot out new power play wrinkles when they play the Pioneers. A lot of slides and overloads on their four PPs. While the game was well played, CC's extra power plays turned out to be a difference maker - as Gwoz intimated, they got some "friendly whistles" as the team that is still fighting for its playoff life, while DU as a clinched team, did not get much benefit. That's part of hockey, and DU will need to be more effective on special teams as well as getting more rubber on Howe if they want to get the win in the Springs. Twenty six shots is a low total when you are giving up over 30 going the other way. DU is going have to crash the net more and get some garbage goals in traffic/on rebounds. The are also going to need to get Wiercioch and Donovan into the play a bit more.

If UND beats Tech tonight, then CC will go up to Duluth. Given that Tech has only 1 road win all season, and UND is playing well as of late, CC will most likely not draw UND next weekend. :)

You are such a fraud.

Come on Seniors grab the Gold Pan tonight playing on that "ocean" of ice.

Someone needs to get you and Gwoz a tissue. There may have been 1 slightly soft call that went CC's way, but it was still a penalty. Friendly road whistles, really??

Personally, the only call from last night that I had a problem with was Tyler Johnson (I think that's who it was) only getting 2 minutes for the head-shot he laid on Knowlton. I thought that was a bit more dangerous of a play than a regular minor and probably deserved a major.

The breakaway was a clean swipe of the puck, the CC player fell onto the stick. Colborne and Prosser offsetting was a joke. Rhett got blatantly crosschecked right in front of Shepherd. Just sayin. DU didn't help by committing several legit infractions though. Plus DU never seemed to play like they were in a position to win, I think. Game wasn't lost because of the stripes, it just made it that much tougher to watch.

Congrats to Denver for winning the Gold Pan back. As much as I hate to say it out loud, you guys have one hell of a team this year. We'll get it back next year, though!:p

Those two things didn't do us much good two seasons ago. Just saying.;) :p

Seriously, DU is a fantastic team this year with amazing goaltending. I think this team will go along way in the tourney. Congrats on a great regular season.
