MAC Hockey 24-25

The real question is now Utica Hockey to the SUNYAC??? Just kidding... unless??? Its not like theyre a full time member of the UCHC and being in the SUNYAC does have lower travel costs compared to going all the way down to chatham and neuman

Outside of Gustavus Adolphus, I think every MIAC team is less than an hour drive from any other MIAC team. It's crazy.

Your Adirondack and NY conferences are really tough to figure out who should be in which. After all, you could just as easily swap Utica/Hamilton and Oswego. Since I'm too lazy to do the travel math like you did, I wonder if an East/West split works better than a North/Southwest split like you have.
It doesn't matter. The NESCAC will NEVER be absorbed into multiple conferences.

Hey bud, did u see the paragraph in the original post where I said "I did a little experiment where I relaigned every d3 hockey team based solely on location/travel costs and nothing like whether theryre a suny school among other things. Obviously this is just for fun So i dont want to hear some nerd tell me how unrealistic this is, but it is interesting to look at."

You STILL should have left NESCAC as is. Travel costs are not an issue for them. Then your experiment would have merit.

Per my source which is highly credible, unlike many others, Buffalo State applied to join the UCHC but was ultimately declined.

Not surprising and also not surprising they were declined.

SUNYAC won’t be around much longer. Buffalo State won’t be the last of SUNY schools looking for greener pastures

Im shocked that a conference with 4 NY schools declined a fellow NY thats quite close to 3/4 of them. Not to mention Buff state is arguably the closet school to chatham besides fredonia Buff State has an equal if not better resume than what everyone but Utica and Geneseo in that conference. It makes no sense why they cant get the majority of votes.... unless another NY team that's better has been talking with the UCHC? Someone like Oswego?? or maybe even Hobart??? Why would Hobart drive all the way to VT and Boston to play Norwich and Babson when Geneseo, Oswego, and Utica are all 60-90 min away.

I can confirm that Hobart has been in talks, along with Elmira and possibly Oswego. Only a matter of if they would leave the NEHC and Oswego would definitely go, if this were to happen the UCHC would become the best conference in all of D3 with Utica, Nazareth, Geneseo, Hobart, Elmira, Oswego, Brockport, Chatham, Manhattanville, Neumann. But also watch for Mville and Neumann to depart to the MAC.

Maybe recently, but historically Neumann and MVille have significantly better resumes dating back to the ECAC West days. Neumann has a national championship. I don't think Buffalo State has ever made the sunyac championship game before. Wilkes has a better resume too. I don't see them being any greater than a Nazareth.

Only if Oswego leaves the SUNYAC as a whole.

And remember everyone, Hobart and Elmira used to be in the same conference as Utica when it was the ECAC West. Why they never joined the UCHC and went to the NEHC instead, has always been a mystery to me.

I dont think Oswego needs to leave the SUNYAC as a whole, I think if enough teams leave at once it can force the SUNYAC to stop sponsoring mens hockey. Oswego Golf is an affiliate member of the empire 8 since the SUNYAC doesnt sponsor golf. If oswego buff state and fredonia announce plans to Bolt to the UCHC that leaves 5 for hockey in the sunyac, and Id think they rather just fold the mens hockey conference rather than break tradition of taking non suny schools. They're picking up the womens one anyway, so at the end of the day they might just view it as a wash.

It would take some very coordinated timing, but I see your point.

Yeah that's true, however often when it comes to conference realignment it's more of a what have you done for people recently. Middlebury has more tradition and a better resume than everyone else in d3 hockey yet they haven't had a winning season in over a decade. If they weren't part of the nescac and tried to move conferences I doubt they have any takers.
