Lunch

Re: Lunch

I have found that sometimes this is true, and sometimes it is not. Using the macaroni and cheese example, I have had some absolutely awful off-brand stuff (no flavor, extremely salty), and I've had others that taste just as good as the Kraft stuff.

There are some store brand products I just won't buy when I see them. These are things I've had problems with in the past, or know that I definitely prefer a certain name brand over a store brand from previous experience.

And as for milk, definitely not true. Sure, the stuff at Cub is probably all the same, but if you know where to get actually good milk, it is totally different. The milk I prefer to buy, and do buy when I'm not in a hurry and just have to get something at the grocery store, is bottled at a local creamery, in Hastings, MN. I know, because that is where we sold our milk when we used to milk cows.

Yeah, I'm talking Rainbow/Cub. I know Rainbow gets their name-brand milk from the same dairy/whatever as the store brand (Roundy's).

lunch today will be chicken and asparagus with gruyere and white wine tarragon sauce.

Re: Lunch

So I'm at the checkout line at our local grocery store and one of the owners is there talking to the cashier, and she sees my frozen dinners on the belt waiting to be scanned.

"Oh, those are really good!" she says to the clerk, indicating the Marie Callendar pot pies. "It looks like they are on sale." (they were, I had several). "I'll have to get some."

I'm lucky that we have a microwave in the office so that I can bring frozen meals. Usually my lunch cost is $2.50 to $3.50 (plus tax) depending upon what was on sale that week. Where I work it seems like they charge you just to look at a lunch menu, typical cost to buy lunch would be $6.50 to $7 per day.
