LSSU Lakers 2014 off season thread

If the PC assistant mentioned earlier in this thread is Ben Barr, then I would hope that the committee takes a long look at hiring him. He may not have any head coaching experience, but he played a major role in recruiting the seniors and juniors that just led Union to the National Championship and has done a great job so far in recruiting at Providence. Ben has created a great recruiting network and is the perfect type of candidate that Lake State should be looking for in their search. He's young, well-spoken, and highly motivated. He's the perfect guy to bring much-needed excitement back to the school and community.

Sounds good. Fresh start.

Hope the PC Assistant isn't Jamie Russell.

Bill, your the best source of information on here so this is not intended as a rude comeback. Jeff Jackson won National Titles coaching Junior Hockey in St. Clair Shore of the NAHL prior to coming to LSSC as an assistant coach. Just for clarification.
Yes, I know that Jeff had coached at the Junior level, but LakerBuff was basically saying that the PC assistant wasn't qualified as far as he was concerned and I doubt he took the time to see if the PC guy had any head coaching experience at a lower level. Thank you for the Search Committee update by the way.

Who died and made you moderator of this board? We're all entitled to our opinions and yours is no more 'valid' than anyone else's. I am growing very tired of your holier-than-thou attitude and sense of entitlement. Many of us have been following the Lakers for 30+ years!
Just for clarification, I didn't mean "move on" from this forum, but "move on" from the fact that Jim has been fired. What's done is done.

Sorry, no real coaching experience is a no-go. Needs to bring more to the table than just recruiting skills.

People skills, great communications skills, gets involved with the community and includes the local youth hockey(Dunbar wouldn't know).,and has the players interact with locals.

Inter squad games at the Pullar. They need more community involvement with the next coach. To much community separation from the LSSU.

Bill talks like he is an insider but never addresses the many obvious shortcomings of Lake -- a university that has taken the same turn as the city of Detroit. Less students, less money, low morale, old facilities, and the fact that Lake is on their 5th president in 12 years which has created this downward spiral. Is Lake appealing to athletes that have many choices?

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014 off season thread

I've heard that the team he coached in France folded due to lack of financial support, so Metro is unemployed currently as well.

I'm sure this is a poor SSM rumor. Everyone knows his father in law owns the team in France. This shouldn't be hard to validate on the internet. What is the name of the team? I will look it up.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014 off season thread

Looks like they're restructuring and won't be a top level pro team anymore: http://alpes.france3.fr/2014/04/08/...nt-un-peu-plus-de-la-ligue-magnus-455575.html

I'll take your word for it because I can't read French. This is unbelievable. Here are the applicants as far as I can tell. Please clarify things if I am wrong. We have a current assistant coach who has no head coaching experience and his resume is working for Frank Anzalone and Jim Roque during our least popular years. A former assistant who was trained by Jim Roque and went to France to run his father in laws team that has been around since the 60's and is folding putting his son in law out of work as a coach. An assistant from MTU that was not offered an interview a couple years ago for the MTU job. Last year he interviewed in Anchorage and they reopened the search and sweetened the pot to upgrade the candidates and he has not been with a team with a winning record his entire coaching career. To top it off, the candidate that the ticket payers wanted almost unanimously was not given an interview because the committee feels he MAY NOT be interested in keeping any of these three candidates around because he worked with them in the past. Does anyone else think this sounds nuts???????? Fogarty is a wild card but I believe he will keep the current staff and maybe add Metro to get the job. My heads spinning. I guess I am hoping for the Pro guy with the second best option being the PC assistant with no head coaching experience but is a good recruiter at the DI level.

I am ready to throw in the towel.

Offer the job to Rick Comley.

I thought you left LSSU. You seem so bitter. Why are you still trolling this forum if you hate the city and the university so much?

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014 off season thread

Now that some committee members are talking things make more sense. I hope others pipe in with their conversations with committee members. Everybody now knows the pool of candidates. Metro, Whitten and Fogarty have already been interviewed. Christian and an assistant from PC with no head coaching experience are scheduled along with a professional coach who is supposed to be very good.

Ben Barr? We all know about Jamie Russell and his history with Tech, so it can't be him based on that statement.

I feel bad for the good Laker fans, you're tolerating the same speculative crap we did three years ago; hang in there.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014 off season thread

Thanks Fade. It is Barr for sure it's in the evening news along with the formal introduction to the search committee.

Perky, what are the names of all the finalists, plus those on the search committee? The Evening News web site doesn't have the article posted yet.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014 off season thread

Not all the finalist were named in the article and I read it over at a relatives house. Maybe someone else can post the committee names.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014 off season thread

Randy Russon Said that Joey wants an interview and applied. He spoke to Joey.
I am one of the few that like your humor, of course I like Truth Squad too. Shawhan made two mistakes. He should have said earlier that he wanted an interview and he would have asked the right person. I like that.
