LSSU Lakers 2014 off-season thread (part 2)

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014 off-season thread (part 2)

Fogerty withdrew himself from consideration after the interview.

I would think the two biggest reasons for withdrawing are: a.) You knew you would not be selected, or b.) You all of a sudden changed your mind about applying. We may never know.

Kind of like quitting the day before you are fired.

Interviews are a two way process. IF Fogarty actually withdrew, it's possible that the terms the university was offering did meet his needs for building a winner. Things like budgets for assistants, recruiting and travel, not to mention his salary could all have been sticking points in the conversation between Fogarty and Dunbar. If he didn't feel that the school would provide the tools he felt he needed to have success, it's possible that could be the reason he declined. It's no knock on either party. It's just the two unable to reach agreement.

Today is the last day to purchase tickets to the 32nd Annual Blueliner Hockey Banquet, coming up this Thursday, May 1. Emcee Paul VanWagoner will be leading a fun-filled evening which includes great food, awards, and a special presentation to honor our graduating players. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the Norris Center Ticket Office. Hope to see everyone there!

Easy to speculate whether he or they did or did not withdraw just stir the pot when things seem to calm down some. The only people who really know are the interviewees and the administration. Call me skeptical but I will believe they withdrew when Fogarty or someone else tells me they did. I'm just saying .........

I agree. We need to see more supporting evidence before taking it as fact. Maybe it happened, maybe it didn't.

I think that is the most likely reason for withdrawal, IF it happened.

This is an inspired hire. A great hire. A coach with deep and significant support from three highly respected coaches from outside the current lssu administration. A diamond in the rough. Isn't that what lssu has always thrived upon? So excited. Such a smart hire.

I am being 100% honest. This hire is outstanding. Gripe all you want because he isn't ****. I trust Jackson, mason, and comley in hockey matters above the random silliness of anonymous posters.

Ha, system edited s()xy.

I like this hire also.

We should all be college hockey coaches. Then we could be down in Naples Fl now for our annual meeting. That would especially sound nice for those in the Soo after this long Winter.

I thought this forum had enough with Roque’s depravity, so I had kept quiet about it. Meantime, the toxic Roquettes army is still around calumniating honest people and spreading their propaganda on the net to show Jim Roque as the victim, without anyone here standing up and saying what informed people know.

Politically correct statements at press conferences is just standard practice; I’ve heard Roque’s awesome job being praised by people who meantime were preparing for getting rid of him. Just listen to players at the hockey show and sit with them a few hours later.

Rather than slandering whoever is not on your guru’s tribe, why don’t you ask - and answer - the real question: Why was Jim Roque fired?
Kris Dunbar had no choice but to acknowledge that keeping Jim Roque around had become increasingly unsafe in many respects. Taking advantage of an expired contract, she crossed her fingers that an unexpected end of season winning burst would not happen and make it too difficult to justify without giving the true reasons and boost the Roquettes.
She wishes she had done it several years earlier when she was informed about troubling facts, but just didn’t have the guts, or experience, or support, to face the consequences.
The reactions for just not renewing a contract for a coach who had brought nothing after nine years suggest what it would have been like with the slightest achievement.

If Kris Dunbar is to be blamed, it should be for for letting Jim Roque loose and failing to fulfil her supervisory role, and deliberately ignoring the facts brought to her attention. She may have to face the consequence for her negligence, but not in this post.
The poor performance, low attendance or whatever allegedly is all the AD’S fault are not the reasons why Jim Roque was fired.

After slandering Joe Shawhan who was deceived by Jim Roque when questioning his practices, the Roquettes now bring in Anzalone, who hired and taught Jim Roque the job, but was later thrown under the bus by the same ungrateful person. Sure, Anzalone crossed the line at times, and I am by no means an Anzalone supporter in this respect, but in all fairness, Anzalone was almost harmless compared to Roque.

Bright abusers and indeed manipulators in general often manage to live a whole life destroying people and their environment while still making themselves out to be quiet and “even keeled” people. When they are not so bright, they make disturbing mistakes like running after a referee on the ice, calling the police against a linesman, going ape**** in the locker room with no reason or staying totalling impassive when a reaction is expected, disappearing for days or weeks without letting players know what's next, humiliating players publicly during a game or in front of teammates, grabbing a player by the jersey and bluntly pulling him out of team picture, ignoring the opponents coach when shaking hands and still denying despite the cameras … just mentioning a few.

Only the tip of the iceberg is visible but, behind the scenes, staff, supervisors, assistants, broadcasters, referees and of course players experienced or witnessed intimidation, manipulation, interference, and other abusive behaviors, leading many players and parents to suspect the man is sick since, in addition to numerous deceptions, serious distress was intentionally caused to his scapegoats to freeze them out.

This is what the next organization hiring Jim Roque will get if they fail to do their homework, but as far as the Lakers are concerned, it is a huge stone being pulled out of the shoe, which is great news.

All other things being equal (recruitment, finance etc ...), just bringing this nuisance to an end will surely give anyone around the team a chance to contribute for the best, and at least the Athletic Director has a chance to adjust and learn from experience. Fans should be confident that the coach and the AD will now work together. They can be pretty positive about the Lakers improving significantly before long, and should do their part by attending games and donating.

There is no doubt that there will be other repercussions than just ending the contract, but this will have no effect on the team’s performance, and is therefore outside the scope of this post. As a matter of fact, it didn’t raise much interest when it was pertinent, mostly giving rise to scornful comments by moronic posters.

Jim Roque followers should now stop using this post for their propaganda aimed only at sabotaging the people now in charge and making Jim Roque appear as a victim.

I also encourage the Anti-Roquettes, (including the “Truths” and several others) who believe that Jim Roque should be held accountable, to refrain from upsetting peaceful posters by bringing it up here and instead join energy within a group already dealing with the matter in a discreet but factual and more efficient way.

Hopefully this will help this thread move on, concentrating on it’s core objectives which are exchanging ideas, reflecting on how the Lakers perform, and recommending ways on how to improve.

This is the biggest crock of **** that I've ever read. You are either a disgruntled player (or ex-player) or the parent of a disgruntled parent.

Well said.

Mason, Comely, and Pearson have coached over 3,000 NCAA Division 1 games with 1,750 victories, 10 Frozen Fours appearances, and 3 NCAA National Championships (not to mentioned Pearson's 22 years, 2 National Championships as an assistant/associate coach at UM). All three have recommended/supported Coach Whitten as head coach at LSSU. Enough said.

You make a pretty darn good point about the 3 previous coaches. I'm looking forward to October to see what type of team he puts on the ice. It should be fun.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014 off-season thread (part 2)

UAH's schedule came out today. We play down in Huntsville November 14-15 and then we play the Chargers at Abel Arena February 13-14.

I can't wait until October. I plan on getting season tickets this summer.

It should be nice that time of year, and it'll be quiet because that's football season. Roll Eagle.

But the pool they had to choose from was like picking the best football team between the Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings. Why weren't there any top USHL Coaches there? Why no top D-1 first assistants from winning programs? Why did the only proven winner among the finalists pull out? We must have put a real great package together to attract a pool so deep.

I could not have put it better myself, I'm very excited to see what Coach Whitten can do, in addition to the exciting fact that he's spent time around some great coaches, he sounded very excited to finally be getting a chance at a top job, he's been interviewing for many jobs in the past few years and let's not forget this is a man that moved his family all the way up to Alaska for career purposes so he is certainly passionate and dedicate to the craft.....and now that he is getting a chance I trust that he will give us his best shot!
