I am particularly happy to see the student body showing up for the games. They made a fine showing not only at the hockey games, but also at the basketball games Thursday & Saturday.

Starting to look as if maybe that Whitten guy that some Laker fans were so down on maybe has a little bit of coaching ability?????

True Lakers fans were not down on him after the initial announcement had settled. Damon has done a good job even ball park and Oscar Meijer need to fabricate stuff to try and cut him down.

Congrats to Defiel on WCHA Defense Player of the Week AGAIN. Three shutouts and counting after our goaltendng tandem didn't post a single one last season.

I think some people wanted Shawhan and were disappointed but as perky said,once it was settled,even the Shawhan supporters have been giving Whitton support by their post on here .

OK, you've had your fun with this topic on here; how about taking it over to the WCHA and/or Arizona State threads where it belongs if you want to continue with it. It's past it's relevancy here.

Its funny how things work though. In his freshman year, with a young defense Kapalka also had 4-5 shutouts, and then with a veteran defense last year did not have any. At least Defiel's play should silent those who were complaining about him getting almost all of the playing time.

10 important regular season games left and hopefully a few playoff games, to see what the coaching staff can draw up.

It makes you wonder how much Kapalka's shoulder problems affected his play after his freshman year (although it seems like his injury problems started in the latter part of his freshman year).

It may be a little early to get a good feel for Damon Whitten's goalie philosophy. Is he the type of coach that likes to go with his #1 goalie almost all the time, or is he the type of coach who likes to split goaltending duties quite a bit? It may take another season (or even two) to determine that. Obviously a lot depends upon whether you have a couple of goalies of relatively equal ability.

We have a new recruit. Max Humitz, a forward currently playing for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL (recently traded to Muskegon from the Lincoln Stars). He's a 95 birth date, presumably will be coming to the Lakers in 2016-17.
