LSSU Lakers 2014-15

According to the Kevin Kurtt Managing Editor of "Let's Play Hockey" the source is "someone well connected" to college/club hockey brought the same news of ASU to LPH.

If you don't believe Let's Play Hockey is not reliable source then, fine.

Thanks for the info. I don't hold them in very high regard, so I hadn't checked it out.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

I would like to see the WCHA even poach both Air Force and Army in a package deal from the AHA. Both teams are D1 in all sports. The WCHA would be a move up for both teams.

You won't get Army unless AHA suddenly goes to 18 scholarships and there is no "advantage" for the Golden Knights to be in a cost-containment league. I doubt you get Air Force away from Army and the same competitive environment. There's a reason that both schools left the CHA, and it wasn't primarily league instability.

Big home series against the Beavers. The Lakers need to get at least a split out of it to add some points to their league total. Hopefully most everyone is getting close to being healthy again. I suspect Spratte isn't quite there yet, and Vernace seemed to be a question mark.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

The WCHA needs more all sports D1 schools because if Bowling Green were to bolt the rest of the teams who mostly D2 schools would not be able to qualify for the NCAAs. Poaching a couple more D1 schools in all sports would not hurt and may LIMIT the number of times teams would go to Alaska. Army and Air Force would fit the bill.

I agree, but I'm pretty sure that Army isn't going to want to jump from the weakest league in the nation to one with three programs like BG, Mankato, and Tech when it cannot give out scholarships and can only recruit Americans. Air Force ditched the CHA — not exactly a barnburner of a league —*for Atlantic Hockey, where they've fared much better.

If two D-I Atlantic Hockey teams are going to bolt, it's going to be the Falcons and Robert Morris. Both fit the geographic footprint of the league fairly well, both are committed programs that would probably flourish with being in a better league (let's be honest, top-tier talent wasn't clamoring to go to the CHA, which had just a handful of NHL players and only two that have stuck in Matt Read and Cam Talbot), and it would also make 1/3 of the league a part of the Serratore Coaching Tree (Corbett and Schooley are both former assistants of Frank's).

Army fits the qualification of the bottom half of Atlantic Hockey, which is, "Why are they still spending money on this program?"

Of course, UAH fixes this when we go D-I. ;)

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

But the only way to get Air Force to jump to another league is to have Army come along.

I'm not so sure of that. Army hockey is so bad that USMA might just pull it. I always thought that USAFA's move to AH was an indication that USNA might finally field a team. Well, nine seasons have passed, and that ship hasn't had a keel laid. Air Force might be considering the whole big fish/small pond thing, but I think that they'd probably want to consider travel costs as well.

Congrats on a nice win! I know Globke's numbers are off from last year, but I thought he looked really good last week in Kato, and he sure came through at the right time tonight

Bill have you heard anything about Patterson and his upper body injury?

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

Big win and glad to see Globke get it after what he has been though this season. I also agree with Sandler being pretty good for the layoff he had and Defiel stood on his head tonight. Also he set a school record for saves in a period with 24 in the first period tonight. Let's hope that record doesn't get broken again though.

I haven't heard anything. I was away from home and missed the pre-game show and the first few minutes of the game last night, so I'm not sure if anything was said on the broadcast then.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

Congratulations to the Lakers on getting the weekend sweep. The defensive zone coverage for the team was outstanding.

Congratulations Luke Sandler on netting your two goals tonight. The whole team played well for the whole weekend.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

Winning will do that for you. It would be nice if they could get at least a point or two at BG next weekend.

Getting a split will be very tough. BGSU is very good and the Lakers have had trouble winning there in recent years.

Congrats are in order to Whitten for his first sweep as a Laker head coach.
