Re: LSSU Laker Hockey
To be fair, the Soo Eagles and Soo Tunderbirds played a two-game series over the weekend that determined the champion of their league. It came down to the last game, and both nights the Pullar was packed with 1,400-plus fans. The NOJHL series had more importance than the CCHA series. Add to that the fact spring break is here, and easily the Lakers, due to the way it all worked out, were down at least a thousand fans that would normally have been there.
The Soo is a hockeytown, no question. 3,400 fans watching hockey in a community of 14,000. Not many other towns have 1/4 of its population glued to a hockey game on a Saturday night.
Less than 2000 paying fans for the final regular season home game should be more than enough impetus to make the powers that be realize that support in this community is fading fast......this program must win now and make it to the Joe or face an overhaul...it’s that simple.
